my favorite metal band is a progressive metal band named dream theater. greatest drummer of all time, amazing vocalist, one of the greatest guitarists and bassists. whats not to like??
Favorite band that is just metal? Hmm...going to have to go with Sabaton. They define modern metal, and perform it well, since many metal reviewing organizations gave them 9's and even 10's. They are a Swedish metal band; their singer is Swedish, while their band members are British.
It's fucking sad that a veteran of metal comes here trying to clear up misconceptions and represent his genre of music then get's called a troll and gets challenged to a debate by someone who can't even use proper grammar or punctuation.
Also, it is quite possible to distinguish what new metal bands are what genre; and what is or is not metal. You just have to realize that not everything with guitars and slightly guttural vocals is death metal. If I had a dime each time a scene kid called Waking the Cadaver or Bring Me The Horizon true death metal, I'd be a damn billionaire by now.
With that said, I'm done trying to enlighten this forum about what is/isn't metal. I'm clearly not going to get anywhere trying to convince what is a largely a forum of opinionated tweens.
