For those who don't know AI = artificial intelligence, basically a machine that reacts as the human brain does. This means that it has to be able to learn and adapt to change. What I want to know is what AG thinks of it? Anyone automatically thinking of the Terminator and The Matrix?

Another point I wanted to bring up is the fact that if they became better and were not forced to serve us, then they may still serve us as respect to there "god" as in us. THe human race has served "gods" since the biggining of time, and the main thing gods tend to do is creat the race. Im an aitiest, but we could prove that we made the AIs so we whould get respect as a god, or at the very least, a father.

Im assuming the movies you just mentioned are fictionaly stories... If you base an argument on that, then its a pretty weak argument.

An argument? The movies about robots who serve the humans, like you said, as if we were gods, then they betray them and kill them. Its got will smith in it =)

hahahaha that was good.

good point, but its not as advanced as AI, is it?

how do I explain this more.... AI may be made to mimic a human brain, but it is still a 10^100 long list of commands and programs installed into it to make the robot work. Humans crash too, except not...in the frozen state...erm, sense... we either cry, get frustrated, or go berserk. Gods know we don't want that to happen, so we just need to code to make them crash if they encounter an unsolvable dilemma. But again, with AI, that's 10^100 combinations of things to do.

Do you know how complicated that would be? To program something to be able to be essentiant? Scientists even now, still have problems programming a machine to go through a ratmaze without hitting a wall, let alone trying to walk and talk.

Yes, we do know. But were not talking tommorow. We are talking 1k-3k years.

That doesn't stop it from being super hard to do. Even with the technology from 1-3k years from now.

Sorry for double post, but an interesting dilemna once material diffuculties are overcome would be its impact on human rights.
How would we treat the AIs, and how should we treat the AIs.(To say nothing of the religious aspect.)

Like I think Ive said, they whould have programings that make them a compleat slave. We could even program them to like the job. We could treat them however you want.

But they would be sentient! I think the 13th amendment ended slavery.

It says nothing of inslaving technolagy. There made to be slaves. What rights whould the need/ get? They whould be tireless workers, they whoulden't need rest. They can't get sick and any injury could be fixed by an hour in the shop. They whould be programmed as slaves, so they coulden't vote. They could even be programmed to LIKE it. Then it whould be our duty to make them work.

Even if AI did get to the point where robots might think they are superior to humans, all we have to do is remind them of the almighty EMP.

And they could remind us of the almighty virus :P

That wouldnt be AI then! We can do this already...
