One day i was thinking: wouldnt be life better without religion?
Why did i think that? There are a lot of reasons:
1.War. Since religion was created, there was wars. One religion again a other, just because they don't agree with each other. Or like WW2, it was for making a religion (christians) to become powerfull and killing other religions (jews). U.S.A think that "god" is on they side and start killing whatever by the name of god. And same thing with the terorists.
2.Stops Science. A lot of famous people like Galileo or Copernic where stoped, cause they didnt have the same point of view then the church. Darwin had a lot of problems, and people didnt believe him, just because it was against religion.
3.Injustice. Womens where lower in society then mens. Mostly in Indu or Muslim, the women couldnt do anything. Had to hide face, couldnt choose who to marry. Also, there wasnt any freedom of speech. If u think differently then the religion, you get killed, tortured or you get send to prison.
So. Here is a question: Wouldnt life be better without religion? Wouldnt we be like 50 years in the futur in science? Wouldnt everyone be happier without a religion? Just living your life normaly....
Well, Necessity? Sorry, but Humans don't need boats to survive. They do it to advance. In the past, advancement was driven by your cultural mindset. It still is, how many people work towards being amazing garbage men? Nobody -- It pays shit and isn't a valued job. All I was saying is that it can promote an invention, health, or well being. Throughout my life, as short as it may be (), I've found it quite helpful.
Not to survive, but thanks to the idea of 'being created in Gods image', humans seem to think they are inherently above other animals and deserve more than they need to survive, which creates artificial needs, and a boat is an artificial needs.
Also a fishing boat will increase your chance of survival, which could make it a necessity.

Our ability to advance is part of our survival skills.
For example. The hunter who used a rock instead of just his hands could catch more food. The hunter who used a spear instead of a rock could catch more food. The hunter who used a bow and arrow instead of a spear could catch more food.
If there was no religion there would be no law and we would probably all be dead. I take no sides on religion I believe what I want.
I find it hard to answer somthing so stupid without flaming... but I must try...
Riligion did't cause law. Law was't made for riligios intent, it was made by one of the first kinds in a simple "Eye for an eye tooth for a tooth" style, that had nothing to do with riligion.
Also, if there was no religion, why would people act justly or morally? If there were no judgment... I think many people to stray from doing good...and thus the world might resort to a form chaos!
thats a good post...now i my self am not very religious but i am a christian and believe if nothing else it gives people hope..
Religion still causing wars and killing... Right, some religions teach love, compassion, but I think this kind of thing should come form home, from the parents, not from a chucrch, and it teachs hate too, I see lots of fanatics hating people because they are of other religion, its how people say, ''judging a book by it's cover''

Or there would be laws given from the first tangible societies ever conceived by man who used no religion to form them, while later societies took what they made and reformed them according to their liking. Your quote explains what happens when there is no government or laws in one, aka anarchies. Did the ancient Romans use their polytheistic beliefs in their texts? No. This can be interpreted in many ways. What I believe? They realized it was a folly to bring religion into their laws when there would be others immigrating into their nation. Did their gods influence how their laws were written? I don't think so.
We act morally because we are not ANIMALS, our parents teach us this way, to not punch people on the street, to not steal, to not kill. This don't come from a church. If someone act morally because he fear the hell, he's not a real good person.
Actually, i would say no. I would think religion helped us as a matter of fact.
War Not really. Hitler did not have a real religion and he killed people because of hatred and because he was crazy. The Crusades was not only because of religion, i will point out, it was because of land and because the Catholic religion was so corrupt at this time.
Stops Science
Galileo was catholic... i believe. Also, during his time, influence in religion, art, and science was massive. This made the Renaissance. Also, because of Islam, science in the Mid East flourished. I dont really know how it stops science because scientist do progress with or without religion.
Injustice Now this I completely do not understand. Religions and philosophies in all cultures promote equality. Islam does not oppress woman. Islamic cultures are in fact one of the first ones to give women education. It is just because todays media put a terrible image. Although early civilizations seem to oppress women, such as Mesopotamia, it was because of laws of government, not religion.
In my eyes, religion is a great thing to have. It creates stability and peace if followed correctly.Think of it. Most of our morals are also found in many religions. I love the philosophies of Confucius, Buddha, and religions of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and Hindu. (Though I am still deciding)
Plus, religion is one of the key component to have a civilization!
