In all religions parents and other adults make kids prey, go to church, and follow many other religious things they do. They tell kids many scary and untrue things that the kids can not understand. Is this considered forcing and brain washing the kids into the religion. Here is a video of a "Jesus camp".

So do you think kids have a free will when it comes to religion, or are they being brain washed?

Science doesn't always teach the that the catalyst of earth has always been there.

Science does not teach that a catalyst ever needs to be present, only that it facilitates reactions, so you saying that God is a catalyst of Earth means that you must believe that Earth might have come about wthout divine intervention.

If not, then you need to choose your words more carefully lest one turn them on you as I just did.

Let's try to get this back to the OP please? What's happening right now is off topic!

So - You are saying Catholicism is the only path to God, that only your religion is correct, etc, etc.

It seems to me you don't know your own religion very well - you said earlier in the thread:

Avorne, I will scream this from the rooftops forever and no one will believe me, but NON CATHOLICS CAN GO TO HEAVEN.

What are you saying the singularity is?

pHacon, I find when we are as off topic as this, the actual topic has worn itself out.

Instead of catalyst, consider I meant simply something that started it, poor choice of words on my part

Tibbers, we accept his everlasting being. Science doesn't always teach the that the catalyst of earth has always been there.

Well some scientists accept the fact that the elements have always been there.

And a singularity in itself, is simply something very complex. Mathematically is a portion of a function of a complex variable that behaves rather extremely. Or in some cases, is undefined. This is why singularity in the sense of a black hole, is essentially nothing. Or in the sense of the beginning of the universe, the grouping of the universe's elements in a way that cannot be explained. With that said, it can and has been proven. What came before it is up to interpretation, and is where religion often comes in.

No, I was simply brought up in a non-religious environment. No mention of religion was made, really. That allowed me to reach my own decisions - whichi led me to Atheism.

Do parents still make their kids go to church after they leave for college? Your acting like kids blindly follow every word their parents ever said. Do you realize how many teens are rejecting going to church?

I realize what you and many others are wondering. But, consider there are many different branches of churches; they simply don't all have different names. The church I went to and am going to (Grace Brethren) don't make the kids swallow Bible verses whole. Also, I do something called Bible Quizzing (by myself), where I am now going to nationals to compete (I hate to use that word...) against other Christians who have memorized for themselves Bible verses, from this year, out of 22 chapters in the Bible. You can't force memorization of anything; the person him/herself decides. But have you considered this: were you brainwashed to go against Christianity?

Once they leave for collage, they are no longer considered kids and skill carry the brain that was washed with them for life. Yep. Its a rebel thing that I feel is positive. That quiz game is a form of brainwashing, or at the very least propaganda. I was not, in any way shape or form, brainwashed to go against Christianity. I was a Christian as a child from a Christian family.

Brain washed? No. Just brought up to believe what their country believes.

I would not say that the quiz game is considered to be brainwashing. It is simply what it is... a game. Something people do for fun because they CHOOSE to. No one is being forced to participate or even attend the event. If it interests you, then good. If it doesn't, then good also. Like many questions, there is no right or wrong answer here.

Okay I'm going to randomly address the question here. Yes, as a Catholic, I agree there are children brainwashed into their religion. But I would also believe there are kids brainwashed into atheism. Every atheist in the world does not believe in making your own choice. There are atheists who hate Catholics, just as there are Catholics that hate atheists. Brainwashing is a main source of conversion however, because a brainwashed child either for atheism or Catholicism can be easily swayed fro they have nothing to defend themselves. I am saying right now that I was one hundred percent brainwashed into Catholicism, and in my desperation was one hundred percent brainwashed into atheism.

arent kids also brain-washed into evolution, it is the same &quotroblem" as seen with religion, with a kid believing based on what their peers or parents believe. I do suggest people to look for flaws in their thinking and definitely (suggestion) look into Christianity

No. Kids aren't brainwashed into evolution. Evolution is a fact that has been proven by scientific evidence. Religion on the other hand has not. It is wishful thinking.

I'm an atheist and my parents are both devout Christians, my mom being Catholic and my dad a Lutheran.

If they hadn't had the foresight to raise me without religion and allow me to make my own choices in matters such as these, I would likely be extremely religious right now.

there is more probability that they will not be believers later in life

Really ? You really believe this ? Many people change their mind for religion simply because of some things in life ...Like love! ( and NO i`m not talking about a movie -.-)
Many out there follow The Bible (for example) like its full of truth . "Drink my blood,my children" ? Does this mean Jesus , the son of God , is the one that drank wine ?
Although God does not allow drinking? And thus, drinking is a sin! ( sorry for jumping to another theme )
Take me for example (again -.-) Why do i believe in Buddha ? or Shiva ? Because of the ways of my Girlfriend!
And isnt sex a sin ? But without sex ... How would we be here ? If Adam and Eve DID NOT have sex... would we exist ?

then why arent youa Buddhist or a Hindu?

Because my parents thought me , its a sin to change faith!

Some kids (like me) were scared into religion because of the idea of hell. I got into religion because of fear. But nowadays I am not so religious. I haven't gone to church in years. I don't really care for religion any more.
