I am not in any way trash talking atheists, but what i don't see is their sole purpose. Do they get some sort of delight i trying to lure people away from their beliefs? You tell me.

With Americans, it's as if it's a contest to see who can mention Jesus first. How do you guys get anything done?

We get things done? When did that start happening and why didn't anyone tell me?

I don't feel the need to "convert" people. If they want to know about it, all they have to do is ask. And also, why do atheists feel the need to deter people from their beliefs, Mage?

Are you just curious, or are you just trolling? Making blanket statements like this about a particular group of people is irresponsible. Personally, if you want to waste your time talking to an imaginary man in the sky, then I have no problem with that.

But at the end of the day, don't we all want to be rational and reasonable people? While I believe many theists are fully justified in their beliefs, I also believe that most are not. Judging from your posting habits I'd guess you're in the latter category.
Still, many atheists have long given up trying to argue with theists. For me, it's a complete waste of time because either they are intelligent enough to be justified in their beliefs or they're too stupid for any sort of argument to work against them.
For those atheists who still "feel the need to deter people from their beliefs" it comes down to epistemic or cognitive responsibility. If you see an otherwise rational person who is experiencing a hallucination, wouldn't you try to explain to them that what they're seeing isn't real? I think the sentiment here is analogous to how the atheist views the theist's position - a delusive state being undergone by an otherwise rational person.

Moegreche?! Haven't seen you in a long time... Anyway. I partly agree with Moe. This is all a waste of time. We will never get anywhere. Until it is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that God does or does not exist, there is no point arguing about it. It's simply stupid. But, until everyone realizes that, I'll try to stay active in the arguments. =)

I would like to ask why you assume all atheists act that way. The vast majority that I know don't care what religion someone practices, unless they try to convert the atheist. That includes me btw, until someone can prove God, and other religious concepts, beyond a doubt, I will continue to be atheist and not care about others religions.

Of you look into the past comments, you will find that i had stated that I do not believe all atheists are in such a way. It's a message to the people who are.

And Moegreche, i just am very curious. And Moe, if you don't care about other religions, that doesn't mean you are an atheist. An atheist is a whole other meaning.

He realizes that. He is just saying he does not care about other religions, as you stereotyped atheist as doing in your OP, and that many others don't until it they come at your door and stuff pamphlets down your thought.

I didn't stereotype them. If you look closely at my op you will find that i am not stereo typing them.I have no problem with them what so ever. I'm just curious, as I have stated constantly.

You just said the sole purpose of atheist was to lure people from there beliefs. That is called stereotyping.

I think NoName said it best.

"There are some religious groups that slow human progression. Atheists would rather solve the problem at the root."

What experiences have you had with atheists trying to get you to stop believing beyond places like this that are set up for bringing up and discussing the topic?

314d1, i said DO they get some sort of delight. You really need to look more clearly. Like I said, I'm just curious, not critisizing.
