In pakistan facebook has been banned because of some guy from europe made a "who can draw the funniest picture of muhammad" contest. I am a muslim and don't understand why people keep making fun of our religion. You don't see us making fun of Christianity or Judaism Etc. Why?

Wait wait...WHAT?? Pakistan's facebook...was banned...because of a contest in Europe.....How does this make sense again?

You don't see us making fun of Christianity or Judaism Etc. Why?

No I don't see Muslims making fun of either, but modern society makes fun of both all the time. On the other side of things, why should a religion be offended of a joke? It's not like it's a temporary theme on Facebook or anything. It's a contest thread that one man thought up and the government of Pakistan is taking it out on the entire site.

You know... It's like when someone on AG keeps posting with excessive language and a guy attacks the entire site for what one guy did. Facebook is not responsible for what one guy does, but they can sure as hell prevent him from doing so in the future!

It's your government. We do it to spit in the face of terrorists and because we can.

But thats the thing, facebook refused to delete the offensive page. So Pakistan banned facebook in their country.

Honestly thats a little extreme don't you think? I'm sure no one will leave Islam because of the cartoon and if they do it's their choice.

Have you noticed America has been constantly attacking suspected terrorist lands? Most of the time innocent civilians have been killed. You think you have the right to constantly bomb a country that has terrorists but more civilians?

Bluedevil, meet Nemo. He likes to kid around a lot, just like the facebook contest. Sarcasm is not one of his favorite things to do on a community like this.

So? What does this have to do with what I just said?

The reason that guy made the contest is because he wanted to target muslims. I don't know why tho.

Really? Provide a link to this contest and we will see about such things. Did he really do this to target Islam, or are you assuming he did out of pure bias?

It was his way of spitting in the face of radical groups and terrorist organizations. Every time someone shows a picture of Muhammad, a terrorist threatens to kill them. That's why people are doing it. And once again, it's also a way for people to practice their right to free speech.

If you've noticed, for the most part it's the radicals that take offense to this, just like in Christianity and Judaism. For some reason people just don't understand that a joke isn't intended to be taken seriously.

The depiction of any prophet is strictly prohibited in Islam Thats why it seems like Muslims over react when Muhammad is made fun of

It could be. We aren't changing our laws and restricting speech simply because another government isn't happy. It won't happen. That's enough to start riots.
