Yes, I realize that this thread already exists - 13 pages and over a month back.

I'd like to remake it, I don't see why an issue such as this should fall from our eye.

This time around I'd like to focus more around the legality and the taboo side of abortion. That doesn't mean we shouldn't still include the aspects of the original thread though.

Should abortion be kept away from the public eye? Or should it be something that we openly discuss?

Should abortion be legal everywhere? Under what circumstances? How could those circumstances be judged to be the right ones? Do we follow the 'lesser of two evils' idea or do we take a separate path?

I personally feel that abortion is a women's choice, if abortion is the best option in a situation then it should be the one that is taken. As a man I really have no say in what a woman does with her body. But what if I was going to be the father of a child she didn't want to give birth to? I'm not sure about those situations - should the father have equal say to the mother?

Well while in the mother's stomach, An "embryo" is being fed, sheltered, and technically clothed.

[quote]It's not a baby. If it were a baby, then I would like a person to feed, clothe, and shelter the embryo in their house.

I don't think you read that part. Plus, as LazyOne has stated, sperm are potential babies, yet people make spermicide.

The Catholic Church frowns upon masturbation because, I believe, correct me on that one, that when you ejaculate, you're killing sperm, thus killing a potential baby. Not so sure about it, though, so don't hold me to it.

Don't have much time at the moment, but I will talk a little of the religious aspects.

Under most circumstances, it seems god approved. There is even a way to get a "Biblical abortion" if you think your wife is cheating on you. If that is a good reason, then I would consider rape, life or death, and even possibly protection break or lack of protection.

Link.

God struck down Onan for 'spilling his seed' - that Is where the whole 'don't jerk it' thing came from.

Hahaha! Either way, it was probably going to happen, what with those daily wet dreams.

I guess Catholics don't really think about that.

Wet dreams? They aren't sins. It's an accident.

That's why masturbation is a sin, also that your sexual organs aren't playthings.

I beg to differ. Look at the wide range of animals that masturbate for pleasure - including Bonobo monkeys (who also indulge in bisexuality and penis-fencing). I'd say my sexual organs are playthings.

It's not really an accident, but more of your bodies response to a lack of sexual enjoyment. Plus, in my opinion, sex shouldn't be seen as an evil thing anyways. As an animal, sex is high up on the list of needs. And it's proven that regular sex is good for your physical as well as mental health. And hell, let's just face it, it's fun. Just be smart about it so you don't ever have to deal with this whole abortion **** in the first place.

I say the American government should take out 2 birds with 1 stone by making a bill or something so every abortion would go to stem cell research.

That way we can have cures as well as get rid of our unwanted b*stard children.

The most basic human need is sex.

Besides, most of the children would go unloved and actually cause more harm to society. Most children who aren't wanted by their parents don't exactly turn out to be the next Obama or the next Stephen Hawking. Quite the opposite, really.

Well if you'd like to put yourself on the same platform as monkeys that's fine.

Sex isn't evil, it is widely celebrated by many religions, and is considered one of God's most generous gifts by the Catholic church. No, I'm saying wet dreams aren't intentional in the same was masturbation is.

What is wrong with being on the same level with something that shares a majority of our DNA?

So sex isn't evil, just the execution of it?

What about little kids who do it? They do it because it feels good to them (there is plenty of recorded instances of child behaviour involving it). Even if they aren't 'spilling seed' they're still getting the pleasure.

He never really said the execution of it was evil, just that Christians frown upon sex before marriage. It is a fact, because many do. But I don't know many that practice that kind of abstinence. But my area isn't very religious in the first place. Canadians are chill people. :P

But considering that sex can greatly reduce the chance of a man developing a fatal heart condition later in life, why not just enjoy? :P Even so, the safer it is the better.

There's a lot I would love to say, but, as it is, this thread is about abortion. Let's try to stay on topic.
