I saw this Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer in which a sniper gets bombed after a remote controlled model car strapped with a bomb device (cute, ain't it?) got him. So I'm confused now. Are snipers supposed to camp?

Yes, snipers were always meant to camp, even non-snipers are meant to camp.

snipers are supposed to camp duh unless they don't have a silencer then they have to keep moving so the don't get discovered

Oh, problem solved. So what's the chance that you get found even if you have a silencer?

It's Black Ops, by Treyarch.
I am no fan of CoD games but as I understand, Treyarch doesn't like the Noscopes, Quickscopes and tricks snipers make, this is probably and incentive against snipers.

In either case, you are always allowed to camp (but you shouldn't as spec ops, unless of course you're in a small room :P )

Dumb question imo

*head desk*, *head desk*, *head desk*, *head desk* . . .

Snipers aren't attached with scopes so that you just lift it up to your face for a few milliseconds and fire. In real life snipers often find places where they can overlook the guys with machine guns and give them cover from somewhere higher up.

Besides, if you fire a Barrett whilst standing up you're going to go flying back and land on your arse. Oh, and then have back pains for the rest of the day -- the kick back on those things seriously isn't friendly and it's the same case for practically every other sniper on the planet -- you do not fire those things standing up.

The M95 Barrett 50. Cal has the power to brake your arm with mere recoil, it would probably take serious training to be able to handle one properly.
And yeah, Snipers aren't like they are in games, they are scouts, strategic marksmen, or cover fire operatives.

I saw that too .

*Facepalm*

Of course they are meant to camp.

I'm a sniper on MW2 and I camp lots of Snipers camp until they get discovered. I even crack out the marshmallows while I'm at it.

*Sets up Tent*

I'm even camping now!

Yes they are supposed to camp, they provide tactical support and pick of the machine-gunners, other snipers etc. so their squad doesn't get killed before they can reach the enemy.

You guys are retards and should feel bad. .50 isn't that large a round, and it's completely possible to fire it while standing without a problem, it's just pointless.

lololoollol

Most 'snipers' use rounds that don't have that much recoil, unless you're a 6 year old immigrant with the muscles of a dying calf.

Falling on your arse was an exaggeration. Firing a Barrett whilst standing up will hurt like Hell in the morning though.

They're still not something you can freely sprint with a pull up to your face with perfect accuracy in mere milliseconds.

No, not at all.

Looks like you know nothing about the majority of bullets that most sniper rifles use

Sniper rifles don't use their own SUPER DUPER SPECIAL GIGANTIC HUGE bullets. Many battle rifles (the ones you shoot standing!) use the same rounds.

Also,

Sure is way too much recoil to shoot while standing up, right?

It is sharp metal
It brakes peoples arms off
It pierces inches of metal
It spins as it punctures through anything

Mostly what describes the barrett

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoDonPRux-I

And thats the Intervention

And yeah, recoil would push you back a decent amount with a barrett, other snipers, not so much.

Other snipers don't use barely as large rounds but still has big pushback (nowhere near enough to push your feet back, unless it scared you lol)

And yeah, on a last note, your attitude doesn't help that much to anyone, people will probably resist your reasons if you come off as a douche.
