I saw this Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer in which a sniper gets bombed after a remote controlled model car strapped with a bomb device (cute, ain't it?) got him. So I'm confused now. Are snipers supposed to camp?
of course they are. sniping is camping. staying in the same spot hidden and waiting for someone to run past so you can blow his balls off. the car was probably just a fluke
snipers are supposed to camp and in games if you are found you take out a secendary but if you dont have one noscope or quick scope and hope you get lucky
Or, you could be smart and anticipate it, then counter it either by: Planting a claymore at the entrance hiding at the side of the entrance, so you can knife if they run past Attempt to kill them with the sniper / sidearm Pull out your secondary weapon and fend them off RUN!
Either one of these, I only hide at the entrance to knife, being as I can often hear them, or if they start shooting I just run (I often have an easy bail location, and I have faster reactions than other people so I can quickly run away and probably not be killed). :P Just thought I'd strengthen your post a bit, and what game are you referring to (if any) about not having a secondary? Or do you mean running out of ammo? :P If you run out of ammo using a secondary, you must've been camping there for a while with the same noob attacking you and you amazingly beating him every time lol
Well, in Modern Warfare 2 hardly any sniper camps anymore. Most people are becoming quickscope try hards. In my opinion it's always ok to camp when your a sniper. If your a good enough quick scoper then you can run around if you want.
Depends if you are a tryhard. A sniper with half a brain would stay back, but pick people off from a distance. Move and follow the other teams spawn, or in a spot where you feel comfortable. If you like quickscoping, treat your sniper like a assault riffle.

So that's why my K/D went from 1.05 to .95! Lmao. If you haven't noticed though, games are put on the earth to have fun, and Quickscoping is very, very fun.

Or you could put a thermal scope on an FAL, aim in, shoot, aim out, aim in, shoot, aim out, and look like an utter retard :P
By the way, it's better on Battlefield Bad Company 2 because you can have a red dot sight on your sniper, making it much easier lol :P Or you could noscope with that silenced automatic sniper LOL, I remember using it with a red dot and just noscoping, very powerful indeed, and makes you feel more "hardcore" due to the obvious lack of a crosshair.
Anyway, games are for fun, if you're a tryhard, go on CoD4 Promod, if you're not, still go on CoD4 because MW2 is worse, if you like ninja'ing and javelining the afghan ridge, go MW2 Or if you like to annoy the 12 year olds with Marathon Lightweight and Commando after going on Hardcore, making you feel like you got so much HP (I used to do that), then please, be my guest
If you want to get a tactical nuke yes but sometimes its just cheap but snipers are supposed to camp the remote control car in blac ops has touched sensed bomb so if it touches anything it blows up but ur drive the car and to drive the care ur supposs to get a 3 kill steak I read it in game informer

snipers are supposed to camp duh unless they don't have a silencer then they have to keep moving so the don't get discovered
Don't forget about muzzle flash. In a wide open area or a canyon you may not need a silencer because it will be hard or next to impossible to pin point the location of the said sniper due to sound reverberation. However muzzle flash is usually your best bet on locating a sniper especially because most snipers hide in unlit areas. This being the case sometimes its good for a sniper to fall back and relocate. Camping for short periods, falling back, then relocating again. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish.
If your a sniper attempting a hit, or an assassination in which you may need to wait in one area for an undisclosed amount of time, then for sure you need to be camping and not moving for up to days at a time. But there are times when I sniper should not camp, those will be times you need to be relocating, pushing forward or falling back. For every war related game I have come across, the sniper is one of the only who need to be camping. Unless your a heavy weapons, like a torrent gunner or mounting style machine gunner, but even those will need to relocate from time to time depending on the situation, especially if it involves taking ground and pushing forward. If its something like capture the flag, you may want a heavy gunman to camp at said flag covering that area. I don't think there is really a right or wrong behind camping or weather a person is supposed to do it or not. It's more on weather is that particular camping strategy really practical for that situation.
One might wait in a specific location to take out a high priority target, but taking a second shot from the same location gives away your position, third probably means death.

Okay, quick thing - we're talking about games. lol :P We are mentioned CoD: Black Ops as what is part of the main topic, real life is MUCH different. Obsolete argument unless it's real life (this is also put in the video games section).

"High priority Target" is real life, not games aswell. :P The rest of it can also help in games aswell tho, really
