I saw this Call of Duty: Black Ops trailer in which a sniper gets bombed after a remote controlled model car strapped with a bomb device (cute, ain't it?) got him. So I'm confused now. Are snipers supposed to camp?
i cant stand pseudo-intelectuals , people who played a shooter and think :"yay now i know what warfare is like" basically i cant stand people who cant differentiate between games and real life -these are the peoples who make gamers look like idiots
of course in real live snipers are supposed to hide in place with good view and cover and take out the enemys in videogames you see exactly where the sniper is when he shoots your buddy (espacially in MW2) in real life you will have no doubt where the sniper hides when he blows sombodys head on 1200m distance
No videogame is like reality NOT A SINGLE ONE ! not modern warfe battlefield or Counter strike this has nothing to tell about real life in real life a shotgun has an effective range which is as far as some pistols or even a higher effective range and now look at counter strike - you cant use the pumpgun on more than 15 m but a pistol on upto 60 m its the same in MW2 you cant use a spas 12 on more than 10 meters but a usp on more than 40m
now back to topic: in videogames us should use weapons the ways you CAN play them you can quickscope,camp or whatever i mean hell ive seen someone playing with an awp in Counterstrike like an assualt rifle - no sign of camping
conclusion: Real life - Snipers = ghostlike campers Videogames- Do what you like to camp,quickscope,whatever it is it doesnt matter

oh man im glad this has come up so i can answer it. this requires some background: i used to spend a good bit of my free time on the xbox bad company 2 forums. a lot of people complain or at least complained about the amount of snipers. i got kind of mad(i know thats overreacting)with all of these threads about the same thing but heres the answer to your question: yes snipers are supposed to camp. it is pretty much the definition of their job(i know thats not true).
If everyone did what they were supposed to do, we wouldn't have these war games in the first place. Think about it that way.

Come on, they are supposed to camp behind the allied line, covering them if moving, revealing enemies position, supporting with their fire, etc. But if that sniper likes quickscoping and noscoping, he mustn't camp.

Definitely, I've heard alot of people say they're just cheap or suck because they are camping. It's all just a matter of skill, but yes snipers are a camping class.
