This is not about whether or not he was the son of God but whether he actually existed. Most atheists agree that he did live but there are some who don't so what are you're thoughts?
So you're allowed to be homosexual but you can't be homosexual?
You aren't in trouble for being homosexual, meaning the sexual attraction to the same sex, but you aren't permitted to engage in sexual intercourse with someone of the same sex.
Umm. Contradiction? Where? Simply because scientists do not have a proven theory for something does not mean that the religious view is correct by default. The simple answer is that 'we don't know for sure yet'.
Furthermore, I fail to see how science not having an encompassing theory for death has any bearing on the discussion at hand. It seems to me that you are grasping at straws, searching for any fault you can find in the scientific community so that you can thereby dismiss all science which disagrees with your world view, while you pick and choose where to apply your reasoning and where you get to write things of as contradictory or inapplicable without so much as a cursory understanding of the information being presented.
I do suggest you begin to actually debate, and dismiss with the fallacies, name calling, and failed attempts to sound intellectual with your overuse and misuse of terms you seem to not quite understand.
you are doing the exact same thing buddy. Plus you arent really grasping what i am trying to say. That is partly my fault for not stating that. And im pretty sure an argument such as this one is a "debate". What i am saying doesnt really stray from what we were arguing about. You are in fact nit picking the weaknesses of my statements. If you want to be technical, you arent even following the rules because the topic is "was jesus real". One more point, it is you that led me to stray away in this post (fyi i wasnt name-calling. Name-calling is pretty much another form of stereotyping and i was calling you an athiest. Since that is true, its not really name-calling)
H'actually, Slippy stated homosexuals aren't evil. In your verse, they are condemned for committing a DEED, not just the mindset. Who exactly is the one who can't read?
Okay then. How about 1 Corinthians 6:9? "The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. So do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the realm of God."
Nowhere does it specify that only homosexuals who have sex with same sex partners, it encompasses all homosexuals and says that they cannot inherit the realm of God (heaven). Kind of sucks that God made them gay, then denies them eternal happiness. Yep, loving deity there.
I don't know what is up with slimmy, I think he needs to calm down and be reasonable.
when someone says that my religion is false because science has evidence against it, im not going to take you out for a walk in the park. I am defending something that i hold dearly and just because 90% of my statements make a lot of sense doesnt mean you need to make me look like the bad guy. Its a thread. This is what it was made for.

It is, in a sense, an implied power. Certainly if I was around in those days I would have added that, after my daily stoning of a heretic of course.
You can be the smartest deist in the world, but in the end your greatest enemy is your own holy book.

if you had read the first sentence of the book, then you would have noticed that paul is speaking, not god. These are his and only his opinions.
You guys are just trying to pick something out of what slimmy says and turn it into something bad. He is just trying to state his opinions in whether "Jesus is real". Which is main whole topic of this all. Everyone is just trying to turn this around into something about "losing weight after death" and other things. Just stick with the topic guys, stop trying to discriminate what slimmy is saying. And no, I am not taking sides. I believe everyone has their sides to it, and that's fine.
F.Y.I slimmy is probably one of the most smart kids that you can find for a 13 year old, seeing that he is taking advanced classes in basically everything. (slightly exaggerated)

I have read it, thank you. I assisted with teaching Bible study for several years, and was an assistant to the youth pastor at my church. I know the bible, and I know Christian dogma. Furthermore, if you use this argument then we can say that the entire bible is a matter of opinion and therefore nothing in it can be honestly claimed as fact.

Exactly, as ive said before, god gives us decisions in our life. Little did he expect that his own followers would tarnish a book that is supposed to be sacred and of his word. tis the folly of man.

The things that happened are fact IMO. How you interpret the bible as a whole is a matter of opinion, but it does give simple instructions as Love you neighbor and the classic Do good and good will happen to you. That is the beauty of the bible. God didnt know that his followers would change some stuff, but he did know that the bible would come out as ambiguous.

I never said I did not agree with you, I just mean that you need to seem reasonable to those who disagree with you. Does it help anyone if you give them more ammo?
Agreed. And as such any attempt to 'rove' the bible results in a matter of opinion based on an interpretation of the evidence. No one can say conclusively if anything in the Bible is true, especially in regards to miracles, creation, or even the existence of God himself. This is why these discussions continue. Neither side can offer proof one way or the other. However it is precisely this reason that made me choose to dismiss religion and proclaim myself an atheist. It is in my nature that I must go where the evidence leads, and with a lack of evidence then a lack of affirmation must logically follow.
