If you know what I'm talking about, I hope you agree with me that he is a complete moron. He is putting our troops over in Afghanistan at risk, by making 'moderate' muslims 'extreme' muslims. Post your ideas on this topic here:

People don't burn flags and holy books to win debates, they do so because it's a symbol of discontent. He is showing his discontent and what better way to do so than to burn a Holy Book? It's just a book.

Sometimes, yes. Other times they're just being immature because they don't understand something, I feel like this was the case in this situation.

The one backed by the Koran.

Violence is also prevalent in many religious texts, it isn't a reason to get it up in arms until the majority become violent.

Muslims have burned the American flag plenty of times, does that count?

Religion far exceeds patriotism for most.

People in their right mind don't insult the religion of others.

There are many ways to better show discontent than what this man proposed.

You should never burn books that are rare, but if there's thousands of them being printed constantly

I see this as being about importance, not scarcity.

it really isn't a big deal. It's no different than buying an xbox and smashing it while shouting "PS3 is much better."

It may not be to you, but many people do consider it to be quite a big deal.

But I love Richard Dawkins.

Why am I allowed to criticize political views but I'm not allowed to criticize religious views? If we find a religion to offend us, we can ignore it. But do you know what's so awesome about America? You don't have to ignore it. You can criticize anyone and anything. That's a freedom that should be shared with everyone around the world.

I personally like the way ThunderFoot puts it.

Just because it is a right does not mean it is right.

Of course, I don't think either of us is saying that we shouldn't be aloud to criticize another's religion simply that some moral restrictions are in place for us personally. I would never burn the Koran, heck I would probably burn the Bible before because I understand exactly when I'm protesting against.

He is an idtiot. There is nooooo problem with muslims, in a whole. its just that some of them are stupid. There are stupid christians, jews, and all other religions. So there is no reason to say they are all bad as a whole.

I think this goes far beyond stupidity, the fact is you dont get Sikh Buddhist and Shinto terrorist do you? Christian ones are rare, but there are many many muslims that are very extreme, but what you have to look at is why?

hate to sound like your teacher but any thoughts?

The guy is an idiot. burning the Koran/Qur'an because the 9/11 terrorists were muslims is basically saying that all muslims are terrorists and were responsible for 9/11. If anything he should be burning the Bible because his precious 'God' failed to stop the terrorist attacks.

Okay, I know what this guy is thinking, but SERIOUSLY!? This is NOT A GOOD IDEA. All this guy is going to do is anger Muslims and cause ANOTHER 9/11. I try not to flame, but this is just ridiculous. If you burn a Qur'an, that's not exactly treating your neighbor as yourself.

Why would god stop the terrorists? It set out a message that many muslims are becoming radicals

That man is not very Christian. He's one of the reasons that we get a bad rap. I would never do anything like that. The one thing I live by is respect. Even if your views differ from mine, I'm not going to flame you (in this case, literally) for them. We are only "officially" fighting one faction of terrorist extremists over there, and he is just pissing all of the Muslims off.

Here are some (sad) news:
Afghan mob kills 10 UN workers over Koran burning

And here's something from Sam Harris's blog:
Do We Have the Right to Burn the Koran?

Fun fact - Islam is younger religion than Christianity. (That hell no means it's better, of course...)
At similar age, Christians killed themselves over if it is right to celebrate communion with wine and bread, or bread is the only godly option. Also, there are many Islam countries in similar economic condition. Some people in their governments and leading certian groups like to use religion for their own reasons, making some of their people believe, that West is evil and responsible for their problems.
About Afghan mob - try burning Bible in middle of some conservatively catholic country. (sadly, my homeland, Poland, would possibly apply :/ ) Good luck in NOT being beaten to pulp.
