what do you think about it like do you think if they do something bad they deserve a smack on the head or a "talking to" or something in between or even something different like timeout

even though I'm the OP I'm on a bit of a bias towards a smack because it teaches effectively IMO

Day1: Can I say '****' oh no my dad will beat me, he's there.
Day2: Haha dad's not here, now I can say it.

When my dad has been angry he has used foul language but I new that if I said a bad word I would be spanked and so I didn't.

vortex taking stuff away from kids skips the scaredness and skips to anger

This is a very good point. A kid will only be angry if you take things away from them they will not respect you for it.

I grew up with some spankings and a lot of stern talking. So yeah, I think a mix of both would be good, just so the child doesn't feel that bad.

I was bothed spanked and had priveleges thaken away from me and I respect my parents.

So what? Anger passes quickly, and if you tell the kid WHY you take things away, and then put them in a time out or something, they can think about it, and just repeat it until they realise what they are doing is wrong.
Kids should not fear their parents, it will lead them to be scared to communicate with them about things as they grow up, cos they are scared of being beat by saying something wrong.

remember people if you completely read the OP i said if they did something bad like after multiple warnings like draw on the wall or do something they aren't supposed to do

Take the bloody pencils/crayons away then and be done with it.

ok ok, stern talking have their place, the first time, if its not a serious offence, maybe even the second time, but sooner or later, the brat has to learn that there are very real consequences to misbehaving.

let me ask you this, now that were somewhat adults, would you rather have:

A. a month in a correctional facility
B. community service hours and some fines
C. a spanking and a lecture.

? think about it.

How can he spank you if he isn't around?
You have to teach that the word itself is bad, not just because there is a consequence to it when they hear.

Kids should not fear their parents

When I say that I feared my parents I don't mean I was scared for my life or didn't even want to be around them. I meant I didn't do things my parents told me not to because I was afraid of the punishment I would get.

What you think he just wooped me without telling me what I was doing was wrong and why it was wrong. He explained everything to me.

So what is so difficult about just doing that, along with light punishment like losing a privilege.

Well like I said I had a combination of both. Generally if what I did wasn't to bad then I would have something taken away from me. If it was something bad then I would get wooped. If what I did was really bad then I would get spanked and have things taken away from me.

I think disciplining is a good thing but too much of it is bad and will make the child depressed or something.

Once again we aren't talking about beating so that shouldn't be a problem.
