Don't need to be, just need a bit of common sense reasoning. Our nervous system is bio-electric, that includes our brain which is just a mass of specialized nerves. When we die this bio-electric interaction ceases, so everything stops functioning. When that happens cells tend to die. When that happens we begin to rot. When this happens we usually bury or cremate our bodies.
Okay so I am pretty sure our spirits go to heaven will God.
How do you know our spirits even exist in the first place? You may feel it to be true but that isn't knowing. Not only are emotions like that unverifiable, but are notorious for being inaccurate.
I think the answer is quite obvious. WE DON"T KNOW. and we should all stop acting like we do. i have faith and BELIEVE i will go to heaven because jesus sved me, but do i know. NO! We should all stop having religeous wars and stop trying to press out own religeon, or atheism on other people. For all we know, we could be dragging them away from the truth. I'll believe what i believe, you'll believe what you'll believe and we'll leave it at that rather than hurting other peoples feeling and tearing apaart their faiths by saying your wrong, i'm right my way or the highway. it isn't right. Well i think i can explain it with three words and one sentence. BELIEVE, FAITH, HAPPY. We BELIEVE what we have FAITH in is right so we may live out our lives HAPPY. I'm not saying i'm right, i believe i'm right and you believe your right and everyone else in the world will believe they're right. No matter what we say, do or think IT WON'T MATTER!!! because when it comes right down to it. These petty arguments and deates and wars and what not won't matter. Because someones right and frankly i don't wanna know who because that would ruin th human experience on earth, and i wouldn't give that up except to be in the kingdom of heaven where i believe i'll go.
We have...science and logic, the hypotheses and theories which can be placed with evidence, that suggests our bodies will cease to function and that we biodegrade to become one with mother nature, metaphorically speaking. Then we have the many faiths that believe that we pass on to a given afterlife, based on said belief. But...we can believe anything.

Frankly, no one is right, 'cept for the body degradation part. I think I, and some morgue movers, can attest to this because we have witnessed it? But...I can believe anything that I wish and nothing can tell me no, right? I can believe that after dieing, my soul travels to a cat house in the Bahamas, and that has just as much credibility and merit as any other faith.
Personally, I think that we are reincarnated into another being-- any object, really, because we can't define what has a conscience or not. I think that our memories are erased and we just start out from scratch, inhabiting a form for our mind.
