Over my short time here at AG I've noticed that almost all threads dealing with religion end the same way: Does God exist? I've decided to create a thread dealing strictly with that debate. In saying/supporting either side be specific, and you may be as broad as including every religion to as specific as reading a sentence out of the bible. Atheism areas to consider: -Big Bang theory -Evolution -Dinosaurs -Aliens(?) Religion areas to consider -Anything that makes people believe in something religious.
Buddhism is more of a philosophy rather than a faith or religion. If you are a Buddhist, you follow the Buddha's principles but you don't have a god so you are technically an atheist.
Atheists are sort of like Anonymous: We bug the **** out of Mormons and we only have one true belief shared between us. For Anon, that belief is "Do it for the lulz." For the atheists, well, we don't believe in any diety, obviously.
These threads are really starting to get redundant. It's just the same argument over and over again. I mean, come on guys, do you really think you are going to convert each other over an internet forum? People just always seem to be looking for something to argue about. It's really just getting annoying.
Most of the forums that I've been to in the past have restrictions on religious/non-religious discussions. Do you know why? So that half of the entire World Events section isn't filled up with pointless flame wars and arguments!
How about we talk about something better instead? Let the religious people keep their beliefs, no matter how illogical they may seem. It's not like they're going to change their beliefs when they have been raised that way for their entire life.
They come up, and speak about it as the absolute truth. Direct contrary to my beliefs so I'll return the favor.
How is that not fair?
And whether its successful or not I don't care, third party people can see this and that's usually what has the most effect from these debates, but I'm sticking up for what I believe - if it were real life by a religious person others would agree.
It is fine to stick up for what you believe, but third party people don't need 50 heated religious debate threads to be convinced towards one side or the other.
The point I am trying to make is that it is a better idea to make only a few threads for religious debates in order to conserve forum space. When people want to discuss religious beliefs and convince third party people, they don't have to start a new thread.
Okay, I went to click submit when I pressed the thumb button and it took me back a page. So I'll just say: CHRISTIANITY FTW - Speaks for itself ATHEISM FTW - Speaks for itself Atheism vs Religion - Straight up debate Atheism Majority - The OP asking if the majority of AG posters are Atheist. Soon went into a religious debate mind you.
So there we have it, 4 threads I know of that all have their own debates going on, I think Christianity Ftw's has gone much deeper now its 152 (or more) pages in. Meanwhile Atheism Ftw died off, and this one is based on talking about making a thread.
