On the radio. On the radio. On the radio. There is GREAT music out there that's not mainstreamed into a radio station. You just have to find it. The music is so much better than what is streamed, but the only problem is that it isn't popular.

But, is there more music than there is good?

As I love Drum & Bass which came about after Jungle (Jungle came about really some time during the 70's and Drum & Bass has followed from the 1990's onwards and has really changed the free party scene in England) I would say that, due to my music preferences, music has changed for the better. But, I do dislike all of this new dubstep malarkey so that kinda sways my previous thought of music changing for the better. Which leaves me to think; No better, no worse, there is always music you will hate and there is always music you will love.

Trust me dude, what you hear on the radio pales in comparison to the songs that you have to find. What compares mainstream to underground is that mainstream is popularized by advertising.

This.

Also, all the music that actually happens to be good is not mainstream.

There's better stuff out there.

You can't judge music as a whole. In the case of metal and rock, it has gotten far better. We have many brilliant artists out there. Everything else? Let's take pop for an example. We've gone from the Beatles to Lady Gaga and Rebecca Black. You figure out what I'm getting at.

i dont like think of music as "changed" but more "evolved".

Don't forget "devolved". =/

It hasn't devolved - you're just close-minded. The idea of "devolution" in music is silly because you're always building on what's already there. If we were throwing away our synthesizers and guitars and going back to playing swing music, we would be devolving. That which is mainstream tends to be bad, but that doesn't mean it's a devolution, it means that it's not for everybody, and those that look for more than a catchy melody and a bubblegum-esque timbre should get off their ***** and dig deeper for the more underground music, which is every bit as sophisticated, if not moreso, than anything else we've ever seen.

not even underground music. just dont listen to top 100 stations cause you know thats what they play. the modern rock station in my city plays everything from dave matthews, to nirvana, to anberlin, to middle class rut.

I truly don't understand why people even like music really...it's just a ton of noise, what's so great about that. Although i'd have to say, music has changed for the worse (The way I measure it) because all it is now is lots of random noises (Techno) is full of cursing (Rap) or is insanely loud (Metal) or is annoying with all it's love your neighbor stuff (Christian music)

Yeah, truly ignorant but, im going to respect you opinion because i kind of agree with you on techno but, it take art and creativity to mix it, rap defiantly is taking a turn for the worst, metal im not into it but, some metal i like and christian music have you heard of bands like Skillet,Anberlin, switchfoot, Gungor, the afters, unhindered, hillsong (im not a big fan of hillsong they are really repetitive but, they have great singers and soloist) all christian but, really good bands

Kasic... you've just never heard good metal music. There are lots of songs that aren't insanely loud that you might just fall in love with. Which bands have you listened to that have warped your opinion so much???

ya but there are artists out there that keep the glimmer of hope. Nas, kanye west, eminem, and jay-z are all really paving the way. which i like.
