well all religions believe that theirs is right which implies other shouldnt exist, i dont really see what there is to discuss here, are you asking if many religions should be allowed?
I don't think any should exist - it has bad traits which undermine free will and independent thinking. The only philosophies is to be thinking for yourself instead of idly believing whatever you are told. - H
You left out the third option - should no religions exist? I'm known for taking the third option and I'll be darned if I'm not taking it now. Most mainstream religions aren't very good. If I had to pick one religion to survive then it would be Buddhism probably.

You would think but it doesn't work that way. In fact you might be lucky to even get a room full of people of the same religion who all agree on the same points.
I think the best option someone can take when concerning religion is to remain spiritual, but not force yourself into one sect of religion. Having different religions causes conflict and tensions between populations within each religion. As Gandhi said and reiterated in his opinions concerning religion "God has no religion."
All that being said, I'm still an Atheist. I've just always had a fondness of Gandhi's teachings.
As soon as you'd have instored the one and only religion, there would be divergent branches and sections again and you'd have the same troubles between the different same-religion opinions than you'd have between different religions. Best is to have no religion at all. But like the others said it's not tomorrow that this will happen... what Gevock said makes sense too imo.

how does that relate to what i said? its truth none the less, but all i was saying is that all religious people (no matter how diffrent their beliefs are from their supposed religion) still believe that they are right
i think there should be many religions. the problem isnt the religion itself but how far people can take it and if they hurt other people because of it. i enjoy many different types of culture and espacially stories of other religios.
all religious people (no matter how diffrent their beliefs are from their supposed religion) still believe that they are right
sorry for double posting but that isnt true. i can only put myself as an example though. i am religios but i KNOW that what i believe in is just one theory and that i might be totally wrong.

This brings up the question of why you picked your religious standings? You have to believe on some level that it is a truer path than others or else you would not have chosen it to describe yourself.
Erm...IF there is a true religion, there should only be that one, because all others would be a lie. This is more than highly unlikely however, so I think we'd be better off with none, but that's not likely to happen.
People want diversity... For some strange reason. Well, it IS human instinct to like things designed for the consumer and religion fits that category of action.
