Every time i fast travel to any of the major towns, it always seems to be under attack by a dragon. I personally find this extremely frustrating because i have to stop what im doing and help defend the place, plus the dragon usually kills some of the shop keepers. Anyone else find that this is annoying?

No, I think it's normal, or only slightly glitched; I frequently get dragons when travelling to Falkreach for example, although I must say I sadly never had a dragon in a major town. But it is normal that dragons have a high chance to appear after you short travel, especially to towns.

The Atronach forge doesn't need any specific smithing skill as far as I know.. but certain objects require you have a sigil stone. Apart from that, I dunno about any restrictions; maybe you have do do some college quests or something? But it sounds more like a bug.
I have a question mostly for those who played at least the last three Elder Scrolls: Correct me if I'm wrong, but anyone noticed how the last two games, Oblivion and Skyrim, needed you to save the world (I'm assuming that Mehrunes Dagons dominion over Nirn could be seen as end of the mortal world) while up to Morrowind you only had to fight back a (granted, often massive) threat? If you agree, how do you feel about it?
