I have a question mostly for those who played at least the last three Elder Scrolls: Correct me if I'm wrong, but anyone noticed how the last two games, Oblivion and Skyrim, needed you to save the world
in morrowind you had to stop Dagoth Ur. he wanted to take over all of tamriel whit blight diseases, Corprus-infected creatures and most of all Akulakhan, the Second Numidium, a brass machine god. he already had 1 entrusted to him by his earlyer leader "the nerevar" to keep it save and not be used.
I played Morrowind myself, several times. I know what's going on. And what's going on is that Dagoth Ur wants to drive out all foreigners, and then expand his kingdom. Nowhere is it said that he wants to destroy all men and mer; Tamriel would simply become a dark elf world, a theocracy by Dagoth Ur and 'Akulakhan'. And that's my point, because in Oblivion Mehrunes Dagon would have killed all men and mer, and in Skyrim the whole world itself was at danger. It seems they're getting more and more wanna-be epic and dramatic and so on in each new game. I wonder what will come next? Will all Daedra planes be in danger?
I'm sure that Skyrim would have become an awesome game story-wise if they'd have concentrated on the politic/religious aspects as much as in Morrowind, where the threat was directly part of these aspects; instead in Skyrim, the main threat is completely isolated from the rest (except of the linkage provided by the prophecy).

dagoth ur is a dark elf? i didn't know that. i thought he was a god. like his brother vivec. and that his people are the vampires and corpus creaturs in the red mountians. and that the mountian is closed of by alexian or something alike. so that it couldn't spread into the rest of morrowind.

i totaly agree. the story is realy short. i waited whit doing the quest until i did alot of other things. because i expected some hours of gameplay just for that story. but i was done in a day already. =/
Actually, Skyrim's the last TES. Sad
lol, last TES for the next 6 or so year. but sure there will be another. there are alot of other provinces in tamriel where the game didn't take place yet. i would like to see a game in the argonian swamps for example. the background storys for each of these provinces are already there. if they would stop whit the serie they sure would make 1 more whit the entier tamriel in it. and they made millions in only the 1st few days after release. why would they stop this serie? iit's not like that skyrim was a big flop.

Dagoth, Nerevar, Almalexia, Vivec and Sotha Sil were all mortal Chimer warlords, at the time of the war against the Dwemer. The war resulted in the disappearance of Dwemeres and the cursing of the Chimer who became the Dunmer. Vivec still reflects this, as he appears half-Chimer (yellow skin), half-Dunmer (gray skin). They became sort of halfgods after harvesting the power from Lorkhans heart, and they needed to renew this power from time to time, which is why they were getting weaker as Dagoth Ur reconquered the Red Mountain citadels and forced them to build the Ghostfence. Corprus is also called 'divine disease', it's Dagoths tool to asserve people, and also dreams which is why there are so many Sleepers. People from House Dagoth were chimers before, they got corrupted by Dagoths divine powers. But maybe you noticed they still have an ashgray skin (apart from the normal corprus creatures of course). And the Ash Vampires aren't real vampires, I don't remember why they're called so though..

That would be sooo cool. I too was hoping that would be their next location. Not Sumerset Isles as had been rumored before Skyrim -.- **** goblin breeders.
But it's true that saving the whole of Tamriel, as in Skyrim, seems to be the apex of what the player can reach mainquest-wise. If they do other games they'd probably be more like Morrowind again I guess, and I don't know if this sells as well (although it has great storyline potential).
And this is for the best We don't want it to be an TES game released annually like COD. We actually want each game in the series to improve itself, notice how every TES game has been a massive jump forward from the last one.
Last? Being Dragonborn was like being Nerevarine in that there is one each successive generation. There have been accounts by multiple NPCs how there have been Dragonborns every generation, but have not come to realize it and develop their power.
The way I understood it, being Dragonborn isn't even like being Nerevarine, since being Nerevarine is a one-time fulfilled prophecy, and being Dragonborn is a matter not quite understood, but probably related to bloodline and/or blessing from Kyne/Kynareth. There could be several Dragonborn even at one time, but during the TES:V your'e the only one the Greybeards know of.
And in Oblivion you where simply 'the hero'. lol...
Wait... So you weren't a Dragonborn in the previous TES'? 'Cause in Skyrim, you're the last of the Dragonborn.
lol, are you sure you played any of the games? (and didn't skip speaking)
Being Dragonborn was like being Nerevarine
except that you are are born dragonborn and no1 can doubt it because of your soul/power absorb thingy. and to become the nerevarine you have to do ALOT. befor all tribes, houses and guilds aknowlets it. and even then some people will tell you they do not think you will be a good nerevarine. (not even after you defeated dagoth ur and safed the world.)

but that doesn't make dagoth ur dunmer right? he still is chimer like almalexia right? or am i twisting around some people of the story now?

Heh, you're right; after playing Morrowind it's almost frustrating how easy it is to get acknowledged as Dragonborn. A bit more resistance would make it more interesting ^^

I just read up a bit more in the UESP; actually the Tribunal was also cursed, without exception:
"When Sotha Sil dismissed her "chiding", all of the Chimer were changed into Dunmer, including the Tribunal. Azura assured them that this was the fate they chose, and all their kind would share in their fate "from now to the end of time"."
It doesn't mention Dagoth since then he was presumed dead; but since he's also 'their kind'. The Chimer appearance of the Tribunal can be explained as following:
"As the Tribunal harnessed their powers, they apparently learned, among a great many other things, how to remove the appearance of the curse upon themselves. Almalexia chose to do away with it entirely, appearing in her original Chimer form, while Vivec chose to exhibit both forms (Sotha Sil's preferred appearance is not recorded in history). "
I personally consider Dagoth a Dunmer since all Chimer have been cursed without exception, and in the game his skin is gray, also he appears to consider Dunmer as his people, although of course he's seen by the Dunmer as "devil incarnate", making him have to rely on dreams, diseases and corruption in order to asserve them.
Meh, maybe you're right and I played the threat down. But there is still a trend through the games to get more and more dramatic, ending in the story of Skyrim where the whole world will be destroyed if you don't save it. And they cannot possibly make it more dramatic, that's why if they follow this trend they'd have to make TESV the last one. I just hope they get back to morrowindian proportions :P
Any body know what the best axe in skyrim is?
One-hand, two-hand? Ebony and Daedric war axes are the best regular war axes (although there must be a mistake, Daedric is generylla better than Ebony), and Daedric battleaxe is the only best regular battleaxe. Wuuthrad does the same amount of damage as a Daedric battleaxe, and has a 1.2x bonus against elves.
