I know there's an annual Colony tournament that would like to be started, but I want to lay down some ground rules from the start.
When this tournament is over, we'll lock this topic until next year, when we'll update the thread title to reflect the current year.
RULES
1. This tournament does not "belong" to Quicksmasher/Fasty. He may have started it in the past, but he is no longer welcome as a member of our site FOR ANY PURPOSE, even if just to post on forums. The tournament will only be called the "Colony Tournament".
2. In compliance with our other rules, players proved to be cheating will face a 31-day temporary ban from the site. Circumvention of this ban, or a second hacking offense, will result in a permanent ban from the site. NO EXCEPTIONS. Report them to SoymasterYos or brp47 who will investigate and report to me.
3. Players who are permanently banned from the site may participate as GUESTS (not logged into the site or the game) if the tournament planners allow it, but creation of an account for this tournament will GET THE TOURNAMENT THREAD SHUT DOWN, and bans will be handed out. End of discussion.
4. The last active thread had a HUGE amount of text (copied from at least one or two other threads) written as a graphic image, which is unacceptable by our forum rules. We do NOT allow posting images of text, or posting text in alternate colors. Please continue to abide by these rules. Other tournament threads were shut down because we suspected that Fasty was trying to circumvent his bans in order to revive the tournament, or because they broke other forum rules (advertising, posting text as an image, etc).
As moderators and staff of the company, we still have the final say on whether a thread lives or dies, including this one.
---
With all that, let the games begin. Good luck to our players.
-- I reserve the right to edit this message at a later date to include more rules/notes.
cool. but the 1v1 game limets govs and players. 2v2 was how the game was designed to be played and that is when it is most balanced. also this encourages team work and a playing style, but i do understand this might be harder to set up at the moment the votes stand at
2v2=1 vote 1v1=1 vote
pleese give your opinion only if you wish to enter you name to the tornement. or we dont want your opinoin.
Hey... we want to hear everyones opinion. Thats really what will decide how many people play and what not. 1v1 does not limit governments or players. As far as it stands now any government can be used and theres no set amount of players availiable to play yet. 2v2 was not how the game was designed to play because when it came out 1v1 also counted to your record. Krin changed it so you couldn't 1v1 easy CPU and go up the ranks. This does not show teamwork because you have only one partner who you deside what your going to do with before the games even starts. inflict the only correct things you said in that paragraph was the part about 2v2 being a harder set up and the vote count (for that time).
On the other hand if we do choose for this to be 2v2 do we want to have premade teams or mix it up a bit.
Premade: You make the teams then join the tourney with your teamate.
Mix-up: You join the tourney. Then you will be assigned to another player in the tournament. If you win you move on and get a new partner who won there last game. If you lose then you are partnered with someone else who lost. This could be really fun and I'm ok with putting in the effort to set this up if its what everyone wants.
no.. the game was definitely designed for 2v2 and not 1v1. anyway its more fun...and even if you plan your strategy before your game the strategy wont know what they will do. i will come down to teamwork and dual micro if both teams have equal strategics. i think mix up would be fun... but lol.
i agree with sir inflict..i think 2v2 are just more fun..yum yum yum.... mix up sounds well cool tho..but predemate means that i wont be landed with a n00b!!
If it ends up 2v2, I think people should be able to pick their teammate as there will be some really good teaming and that will lead to really good matches. This will also mean that no one can pin their losing on a 'noob' teammate as they are the one that chose who they teamed with. Basically inflict; the game might have been primarily designed for 2v2 but the community has made the game playable for both 2v2 and 1v1. 1v1 does, as Chessmaster stated, truly show how good a player is as you have to make fast decisions with no room for mistakes whereas in 2v2 if you make a mistake, your teammate still has a chance to pick up the slack. I'm not sure really what I would prefer at the moment, I will cast my vote when I have thought about it a bit more.
See thats the part I left. If you lose the first round then win the next then you are teamed with a person who won then lost. You face a team with the same statistics of win/loss ratio.
Basically theres 3 brackets: winners, losers, and borderline. When you win the first game you go to the winners bracket. If you lose the second you go down to the borderline. You play with someone who lost then won one. If you win that you move back up to the winners bracket.
Then at the end whoever is at the top of the winners bracket will win? Best win ratio wins? Highest number of wins wins? Theres many ways to figure out the end of it.
If it ends up 2v2, I think people should be able to pick their teammate as there will be some really good teaming and that will lead to really good matches.
yes 2v2 premade teams will lead to good teaming but the mixed up 2v2 will show your all around teaming skills not just ones with a friend you play with alot.
Well I vote for 2vs2 in which case I will enter, imo 2 vs 2 is how colony was made to be played and when its most balanced. @Draco no offence but your post seems alittle like a swollen colony ego.
