The recoil hurts your arm. Have you ever swung a baseball bat at a softball? Well, a Zombie's head will be like 2.5x as big, and harder. It hurts your arm, is loud if an aluminum bat, and if wood has a chance to break.
i thought we talk about real weapons. real weapons that you can get easily because you have them at your home.

i meant the lightsabres, flame throwers, rocket launchers, tanks...*sarcasm* its so easy to get these weapons.
oh, my step-dad has a long swort in his basement but i prefer something...smaller, like a throwing knife. or a silent weapon as like a bow and arrows. well, i could just wait till they frooze if its winter or exploded if its summer.
well if we can get into fictional weapons, then ya a light saber or blaster rifle would be great. Otherwise some thing that has little recoil, excellent range and is easy to carry around. A good hunting rifle or a bow and arrow, provided you are strong enough to use one.
id probably choose flamethower, i think that fire could kill them.
They're already dead, all you'd do is have a bunch of flaming zombies eating you now. Eventually I suppose they'd be roasted but for 2-3 minutes they'd still keep coming.
I'd get a supressed Steyr AUG with the gas turned off, in order to have single shots, so I could actually aim, and be silent as hell.
But as stated before, I'd rather just stay away from them and let time do it's job. How? I'd find some kind of safe house, storm it with the AUG, and block the entrances real good.
For the bodies, I'd lock them down in a room while burning them, and check them every hour until I'd get charred bones, so then I'd put the fire out.
