Any thoughts/concerns on iran. they sentenced an American to death today and we confirmed they are working on nukes at an underground location. Should we do anything to stop them? or just let them be?
No, they merely moved their facilities underground and enriched their uranium to the point that it can be weaponised, but there's no evidence that they have decided to make nukes.
true, but you have to keep a close eye do you not since they are a powerful middle-eastern country who has the potential to create nuclear weapons. i don't think the us should play world police and control what other countries do or do not do, but it seems that Iran has been more militaraly active recently this month
i live in iran ... and i say it again for the thousend th time !!! iran isnt that strong that the world think it is !!! you guys just should know about this ... iran is not strong and if america attacks it will lose ...
but america needs a real good reason to start a war in that region again any time soon. americans free walk over any borders is coming to it's end. more people want them to stop invading evrything. including other countrys politicians.
If the war was about destroying the country, then yes, it would be very easy for USA to do. where problem is, that they cant just attack a country. the only excuse USA will have, if they declare them terrorist or something like that. If they do so, then they also have to support/rebuild the new government. Which will cost allot of money. And since they have already 2 wars going on, then I doubt they make a third.
Look, I'm going to play devil's advocate, and give them benefit of the doubt. there is no real country that iran considers a threat, other than israel (I know U.S. is their ally). the simple fact is that whoever starts a war in this day and age also has to politically cut themselves from the rest of the UN. most of the middle eastern countries aren't in the position to screw themselves over by going to war with the more advanced countries, or their allies.
the only pollitically safe thing for them to do with that nuclear material is to use it for a power supply, so they may improve their countries infrastructure. the only thing that could go wrong is that the U.S. government tries to impede their progress.
Is a nuclear Iran good enough for you? Or how about their lack of any basic freedoms?
Just because a country does not take after America, does not give it a right to invade. A country's sovereignty has to be respected, unless said country's policies harm another nation's. And as someone said, wars will simply cut a nation off politically by the UN and further tarnish its reputation which America sorely lacks today. As it is, America should take care of its own sorry state now rather than rush into future foreign adventures and rattle its saber.
So what if Iran has decided to enrich their Uranium? Canada, Kazakhstan, Australia, Russia, China, Ukraine, USA, Uzbekistan, Niger, ect... all have enrichment facilities.
There are already enough nuclear warheads on the earth to destroy it several times over. I think its pretty outrageous to assume that Iran will actually fire nuclear warheads at anyone... In my opinion they are just a country that wants to look more endowed. Stop stronger countries from bullying them. :P
Or how about their lack of any basic freedoms?
There are many other countries with very little citizen freedom. Does that mean we should wage war on them?

Except those countries have not necessarily called out in blatant terms their longing for the destruction of a certain country.

Read the news. Iran is a loose cannon. If they get a nuke, the entire Middle East will go up in war.
