personally for me it was back before MW3 and BF3 and skyrim even though those are all great games i miss back when it was mainly just black ops and MW2. now when i go back to black ops and see how few people are playing it compared to what it used to be like it's just sad because now everyone's playing MW3 which is one of COD's off games, now maybe for me it's that way because that's how everything was when i got Xbox live but in my opinion MW2 has some of the best MP in any game and black ops was still really good and i miss back when everyone seemed to be playing MW2 or black ops. share your feelings(not like "i'm hungry" kind of feelings) and your opinion of the good old days for video games
was the nintendo 64 the one with the controller with the 3 things (that you would on other consoles wrap your hands around) and did they have annimated games or just cartoon graphics

ManlyMan, you make me confused. You craft a thread about "The Glory Days of Video Games", but you have little idea on how to isolate the Nintendo 64 from its companions the Sega Genesis and Playstation 1.
Wait... no... *reads OP*
Alright, I don't know when you started your Gaming, (mine was back in 2002) but THREE YEARS AGO WITH A SEMI-ABOVE-PAR-BROWN-MODERN-SHOOTER AS A FOCAL POINT IS NOT A GREAT ERA MAKE!!!!
Oh yea, GRAPHICS REFERS TO PICTURE REALISM, AESTHETICS REFERS TO THE COLOR PALETTE!
Calm down there, champ. Just because you can't accept someone DARES to like Call of Duty is no reason to bring on the all caps rage flood.
Sorry about that. That's not usually Your Friendly Neighborhood Satanist.
And it's not that I don't like Call of Duty. I admit it's a solid shooter that, for a good chunk of time, topped the industry in terms of quality. But, as with inflation, average game quality increased and overtook the stagnant Call of Duty franchise. Besides, that, Call of Duty certainly does not qualify as part of "The Glory Days of Video Games".
When one refers to such an era, the 90's are usually referenced. With Ocarina of Time, Banjo-Kazooie, Civilization, and the first Starcraft (along with countless other phenomenal games that set the scene for the PS2-dominated era) the N64 era is really seen as the greatest era of Gaming (last year would beg to differ).
Or "The Glory Days" could refer to a more idealogical sense of change; a reference to an era before Day-1 DLC, Project 10-Dollar, the stagnation of the Most Popular Video Game Franchise, and most certainly before an era where graphical superiority was given more weight than actual quality of Game.
It's not that he likes Call of Duty (I myself agree that 1, 2, and 4 are Great Works within themselves) but that he represents what's wrong with this era of Gaming, that he represents why we aren't currently in The Glory Days of Gaming. The absolute ignorance of true innovation and quality is appalling, to say the least.

You don't need years on you to understand and respect the Days and Consoles of Yore (The Chillz Master himself still holds less than a score under his belt), and the Sega Genesis was a bit of a mistake on my part for mentioning. The generation before featured the SNES and Genesis, the N64 had its biggest competitors as the Playstation 1 and Sega Saturn.
Anyway, the Genesis was one of Sega's consoles during the SNES era. Just one of the many consoles released in the history of Video Games.
The first game system I played on was the SNES(super Nintendo) then I played the NES then i played the Sega genesis then I played the PSone then I played the Nintendo 64 then I played the Sega Saturn. Then I moved on to the PS2 the Xbox 360 and I tried the Wii for about a half an hour. My favorite consoles so far: SNES-NES N64 and XBOX 360
although i did love the first playstation, the N64 had pretty much everything better about it. but I have to give real credit to the snes and PSone they were the consoles that I logged the most hours on. Still play my SNES today. I am thinking about speedrunning one of their old games because I can beat DKC in about 1 1/2 hours
and most certainly before an era where graphical superiority was given more weight than actual quality of Game.
Hahaha are you kidding? The N64 had its processing power in its VERY NAME to show its graphical superiority. I hate to be that guy, but graphical superiority has been in the foreground since the SNES.

Just like knowledge of video games shouldn't be required to enjoy a game you like without being called "ignorant" or "representing everything that is wrong", especially since it's based on subjective premises like "true innovation and quality" and "the glory days of gaming", which will be different for every single person you ask.
Anyway, the Genesis was one of Sega's consoles during the SNES era. Just one of the many consoles released in the history of Video Games.
1) The Genesis was launched to compete with the NES, not the SNES. 2) It predated the SNES by a whole two years.
