Welcome to the Art Skills Competition 2014/2015, or "ASC" for short. It is a contest to gather willing artists from the forums to compete in a friendly test of their skills and reward the best of their work each round.
Rounds will take place each month, the last day of the month will be the final cutoff for any entries. The judging will take place the first week of the following month.
___________________________________________________________________
Competition Guidelines :
1. The entry must be 100% original material.
2. Each round lasts for a month; closing date is at the end of that month.
3. Submissions should be relevant to the current month's theme. (See thread's title)
4. Keep posts resolutions within reason and if you must have a larger resolution, link it to the entry.
5. Entries can be created in any medium, please note that it will be appreciated if hand drawn entries are cropped to contain only the intended work.
6. Winners will be announced by the judge of the competition at the end of each round; the results are final and non-debatable.
7. The winner of a round will have the right to choose the next theme; if this takes too long, the judge will choose one instead.
8. All participants of each round will receive a Merit for their hard work; the winner of each round will receive the Armor Games "Artist Quest"!
Round 1: Knight
This months theme will be dedicated to creating a knight representing that of Armor Games, it is a non official character to try and stir the imaginations of artists and viewers. The artist should endeavor to embody Armor Games in a Knightly character.
Well all of the entries were pretty good and I was sick for a couple days with food poisoning monday and tuesday and totally forgot about the ASC...anyways I remembered and decided to write a judging now :P.
Winner:
Sir legendary
I like this I like a good pixel art and it would be awesome to see it animated but I have tried to make pixel art and its not an easy thing sometimes.
Runner Ups:
Ivanxxxxxxx
This was probably one of the most well done pieces of a horse I have seen in a while on the art threads. Though I think the proportion of the man and horse might be a little off if your goin' for a realistic approach. Also the ninja is a little high up on the back of the horse. I dunno if ninjas used saddles but it could be an interesting subject to look up for references.
akshobhya
Trying to go for some retro feel with the image? Idk that yellow is something I tend to see in comic style art. You could try something like this I bet
Andelhofs
This is what I think, I have no reason why, maybe because its just you :P
Weirdlike
Weirdlike do you know who Strip is? Anyways alternative egos for mods aside its pretty good though the only real gripe i got is cutting off the character in a weird spot. idk mid thigh seems a weird place to cut off a character...did you try to draw digitigrade feet at all? or regular feet? so many questions not answered :P
Katpryde
Composition looks good and I sorta saw an outline of a horse :P aside from that might want to try out some other grass brushes in what ever art program you are using. Also is the bunny a reference to gantic?
Swarmlord2
can i ask whats with the random line and c in the image? Anyways good attempt at a horse but might want to practice a bit more is this your first attempt at a horse?
Sorry :'( . I haven't really done anything before, definitely not a horse but this was done on an awkward art program, with a mouse in less than an hour. The image is a cropped image of the screen screen. The cat is part of the cursor and the line is the frame from the program. Again, sorry.
