Welcome to the Art Skills Competition 2014/2015, or "ASC" for short. It is a contest to gather willing artists from the forums to compete in a friendly test of their skills and reward the best of their work each round.
Rounds will take place each month, the last day of the month will be the final cutoff for any entries. The judging will take place the first week of the following month.
___________________________________________________________________
Competition Guidelines :
1. The entry must be 100% original material.
2. Each round lasts for a month; closing date is at the end of that month.
3. Submissions should be relevant to the current month's theme. (See thread's title)
4. Keep posts resolutions within reason and if you must have a larger resolution, link it to the entry.
5. Entries can be created in any medium, please note that it will be appreciated if hand drawn entries are cropped to contain only the intended work.
6. Winners will be announced by the judge of the competition at the end of each round; the results are final and non-debatable.
7. The winner of a round will have the right to choose the next theme; if this takes too long, the judge will choose one instead.
8. All participants of each round will receive a Merit for their hard work; the winner of each round will receive the Armor Games "Artist Quest"!
Round 1: Knight
This months theme will be dedicated to creating a knight representing that of Armor Games, it is a non official character to try and stir the imaginations of artists and viewers. The artist should endeavor to embody Armor Games in a Knightly character.
Nice one @Arm_Candy! Love the texture used for coloring!
I just love the R2D2 character and revised one I already made a few months ago. Added some text balloons with the language from the online R2D2 translator in there as well! Hope y'all like it!
Excellent! Though I do imagine programming wasn't that hard (It must be easy stuff for experienced programmers right?), aside form the visual effect being astonishing, the art by itself is also very good. Great job @weirdlike !
RoboDuck9000
The "9000" is becoming a recurring addition in the name of all mod-related products (first the user fuser, now this..)
Still thinking about what colors should be used, and also what the face should look like, since this is definitely not the final form. The quality is also bad.
I like the first draft @StormWalker! Especially the way you used the outlining in it!
May I suggest you make an android (human-like) face, instead of an angry robotic one?
And for coloring, I suggest using metallic blue and white, with darker blue highlighting and shading perhaps?
Can't wait to see what it will look like when finished!!
@Loop_Stratos It's artistic, it doesn't show what you would normally think if you asked someone to draw a robot. It shows style, and other creative ways to interpret a robot. There are more things than meets the eye, especially when it comes to artists and there interpretations of what they are drawing. I know there's a word for @StormWalker 's style, but it's not in my head at the moment.
i do not have developed artisticism(if it's a word) D:
that aside it looks more like human skeleton(torso aside) to me
Also... i tried to do heavily detailed drawings in paint without the pencil(my hand is shaking all the time with the mouse) and it's impossible(for me). I tried doing something similiar to this without the bazooka, but with only the lines... well. The end result is not even similiar.
@SirLegendary I hope my work does not discourage you from submitting your own art. I have seen some of your work and give praise on your style. It is uniquely different from mine which has its own perks. For example, with vectors I can only digitally create shading or manually tweak the lines to simulate shading. It is different than with a brush stroke such as MSpaint where you just click and drag, a result in which my work has very little to no shading. This unfortunately makes my art seemingly flat where yours has depth, a very important element in art.
@weirdlike Don't worry, I always eventually enter. I was just praising your work. Also storm's work. Also, I'd hate to think the work you linked that was mine was my best, I'd love to think my sushi tiger was my best. I'm always competitive, so your work was actually a boost!
