Welcome to the Art Skills Competition 2014/2015, or "ASC" for short. It is a contest to gather willing artists from the forums to compete in a friendly test of their skills and reward the best of their work each round.

Rounds will take place each month, the last day of the month will be the final cutoff for any entries. The judging will take place the first week of the following month.
___________________________________________________________________

Competition Guidelines :

1. The entry must be 100% original material.
2. Each round lasts for a month; closing date is at the end of that month.
3. Submissions should be relevant to the current month's theme. (See thread's title)
4. Keep posts resolutions within reason and if you must have a larger resolution, link it to the entry.
5. Entries can be created in any medium, please note that it will be appreciated if hand drawn entries are cropped to contain only the intended work.
6. Winners will be announced by the judge of the competition at the end of each round; the results are final and non-debatable.
7. The winner of a round will have the right to choose the next theme; if this takes too long, the judge will choose one instead.
8. All participants of each round will receive a Merit for their hard work; the winner of each round will receive the Armor Games "Artist Quest"!

@Loop_Stratos You're allowed to draw on paper then scan it (or take a good image of it) and post it here! I'd like to see some work of yours!

It was supposed to be some sort of ice warrior. I was going to do a full scene and try to make it like video game concept art or video game ad art, but I just didn't have the skill and it didn't turn out like I wanted, so I just stopped at the helmet.

Just a quick WiP, because I don't know if I'll get it done, and doing this, I can pretend I tried.
Imagine it with light and shading and colours and stuff.

Also, forever amused by StormWalker's concepts and the spindly style of drawing.

Thanks, I think. It's more fun that way.

Reminds me of the things I see in Tim Burton films,

Cenere is more of a Brad Bird ...

Easy Paint Tool Sai, because I have no concept of straight lines.
It's not photoshop level painting tools, nor does it have filters or anything, but it's really good for some nice crisp lines, and the water tool comes in handy for blending.
I can recommend it.

Thanks, I think. It's more fun that way.

It looks good. As Hermit said, it's tilting towards some kind of Tim Burton kind of feel, and ends up looking somewhat bittersweet in the optimistic pictures, and almost terrifying in stuff like your "Alone in the dark" entry.

Cenere is more of a Brad Bird ...

Now, if my concepts were more like those of Up or Ratatouille, and less like "guy is looking through old, abandoned house all alone, except, perhaps not as alone as he had wanted" or &quotrotag could not walk on fire".
Or "What can be worse than a werewolf behind you"...

Speaking of the latter.

Too many hours later, and...

No, having his art here pushes me to become better. I love competition. Though yes, OP.

Hah.
I'm an old fart, I have had time to find more ways to cheat.

That said, if I can teach you a few things, I think my job here is well done.
Some examples:
Don't decide to correct the big, annoying flaw you have hated for the entire nine hours of drawing, AFTER you thought you were done. Really... Redraw it when it the moment it looks wrong. It stops you from sitting up several more hours with a mild fever trying to make it look okay.
Also, should you ignore the above advice, just... make sure it's not the art with the thirty adjustment layers.
And if it is, I am sure it would be better to just hide the ones you can, and redo the others later, and correct lineart and colour on the original layers, instead of merging everything and working on top of your existing art in a freeform version of painting.
Otherwise you will find out why it's called PAIN-ting.

That said, look, another edit. Because SirLegendary should not be alone in making a billion revisions.
