Welcome to the Art Skills Competition 2014/2015, or "ASC" for short. It is a contest to gather willing artists from the forums to compete in a friendly test of their skills and reward the best of their work each round.

Rounds will take place each month, the last day of the month will be the final cutoff for any entries. The judging will take place the first week of the following month.
___________________________________________________________________

Competition Guidelines :

1. The entry must be 100% original material.
2. Each round lasts for a month; closing date is at the end of that month.
3. Submissions should be relevant to the current month's theme. (See thread's title)
4. Keep posts resolutions within reason and if you must have a larger resolution, link it to the entry.
5. Entries can be created in any medium, please note that it will be appreciated if hand drawn entries are cropped to contain only the intended work.
6. Winners will be announced by the judge of the competition at the end of each round; the results are final and non-debatable.
7. The winner of a round will have the right to choose the next theme; if this takes too long, the judge will choose one instead.
8. All participants of each round will receive a Merit for their hard work; the winner of each round will receive the Armor Games "Artist Quest"!

I have spent approximately 3 hours to do the drawing from above, so 1 hour challenge would have to be something very simple in shape in my case, or something which I have done so many times in the past that I can draw easily now. Anyway, I would like the next subject to be "dead nature" mark 2, since I am not quite satisfied with my previous painting, and want to do my best for the next one.

@MRDAYCEE I guess you must have missed this

Anyways from the amount of participation I might have to close the thread. I will try one more round but if we do not get enough submissions we might have to close it down. It was a good run.

I did indeed miss this @Hectichermit ... sorry!

I hope there will be some more entries for the next round though... would be a shame if this were to die...

So far there is no entry at all... I will try a 1 hour speed drawing, make the first step; hopefully other users will join in.

Btw, I went ahead and updated the thread title. Hope I did it correctly.

OK, here is my speed drawing, done all with charcoal and finger in pretty much exactly an hour:

I hope this works, I had to scan it in a very high resolution and scale it down again...

Because I like pumpkins :P. No but seriously I think you did a fantastic job for an hour. The only thing I suggest is working on straighting some of those edges the table looks a little obtuse,. Use a ruler or a guide or something for those pesky straight lines

I can say if this took an hour its awesome!. Though theres a few improvements you could work on. The first being perspective, the angle of the table and the ceramics/dishes are contradicting each other. Secondly I do not feel the weight of the cloth hanging from the table. The pull of gravity would force more of the cloth to contour to the table along the edges.

Alrighty guys and gals this will be the final ASC Round!!!! If we do not have at least 4 participants the games will be closed for good.

I know I noramlly let the winners choose the theme but since this might be the end I am going to give you guys the freedom to choose.

Theme: "Favorite ASC Round"

The End date will be July 3rd! Just because I started all this on July 3rd

I will update the OP right now since it seems we are behind on that.

Thanks! Yeah, the lines are difficult to do straight with charcoal, not sure how well it would work with a ruler either. I'll certainly try if I ever get the opportunity again
