You are suggesting that in the other examples I mentioned, the conquered party just rolled over. The Romans had to fight bitterly in conquering Europe, and they were stopped halfway into England.
That's not what I'm talking about. All those groups I mentioned had ancient empires. The very definition of an empire is ruling over groups other than your own. And as you were calling conquering groups terrorists, that's what all that means, right? =)

I know we are talking about that, but I believe History repeats itself. And you brought up the argument that the Israelis stole the land from the Palestinians, and I compared it to other conquering groups in history.
My point is that imperialism is just as hated as it was 3,000 years ago.
Seeems like you are arguing against yourslef here. So if this is the case why should it be tolerated in Israel. Also my point was not that it wasnt hated back then, but it was generally acceptedb that if you had military power you could take over people. It was not seen as a 'bad' thing to do.

@empyrion the jews were kicked out of Zion by the Romans and over the next thousand years or so the land was repopulated. What were the Palestinians supposed to do leave it empty just in case the Jews returned. I think it is very harsh to say it was their land first and as such the should be allowed it back by "bombing the heck out of the " Palestinians. All that results in is the Palestinians feeling agrieved. and wanting revenge so the cycle starts again. We need peace not war.

well like Pixie said, they were kicked out of it and had no right to "invade" the country. the palestinians repopulated it and have been living there for thousand years. its their land and they have no right taking it.

If you go back before the Jews took it in biblical times it was populated by Palestinians who were pushed out by the Jews, sono it is originally Palestinian land.
Hamas should have stopped to launch rocket at the beggining of the invasion so they could have got a cease-fire. That way less palestinian would have died, but the hamas think that its a far better thing to continue to send clueless rocket that does minimal dommage to israelian.
On the contrary, Woody, i think what they are doing is totally acceptable.
A: The militants have been rocketing and attacking Israel for decades. B: The Hamas is a group who's goal is to kill Jews and wipe Israel off they map. C:They are a threat to others, and are ruining life for everyone in the Gaza strip. Some citizens will die in this war, that is inevitable in war, but in the end the rest will be free, and a dangerous world threat will be gone.
But until this thing is over, the world, specifically the U.N., needs to grow some balls, get there head away from there legs, and suck it up.
As for the citizens, they are not even bitching. Want to know why? They support Israel. They would rather take the risk of dieing then rather be victim to the rest of there lives under Hamas reign.
I hope that if a country DOES attack Israel and try and stop them, they do it in Bushes term so we can kick there asses.
I didn't hear about this till a couple of days ago, since there isn't much about it here in my country. But since the Israel-Lebanon conflict, I knew a lot of people who were with Lebanon, and it's the same now. And I was never quite fond of Israel myself either, until a couple of days ago when I read some journals in Deviantart. They had some pretty good reasons for one to actually, not switch sides, but feel compassion for bot sides. TV's and such are making a lot of news blocks about Palestina, with videos with kids crying and destruction, and, there are a lot of kids crying in Israel too. But the difference is, they don't use it to gather compassion. Israel has the best military force, so if Israel went all in they would probably win, but at the same time, they are defending themselves. Even though Palestina only killed a few, they were aiming for more.
But I won't say more for many reasons, mainly because I don't know much about it, so forgive any mistakes I made.
