Since I have joined Armorgams . . .I see a lot of Atheists and their threads about why people believe in God etc . . . I wanted to start a thread about the bible and christianity.
The purpose of this thread is to debate a different book of the bible each week. We will discuss lessons, morals, and different stories.
We will have friendly debates. Please . . . if you are atheist or of other beliefs . . . you may discuss in this thread, just PLEASE no fighting, flaming, spamming, trolling . . . etc
This week we will begin from the beginning . . . .Genesis
hen bring proof. Or it looks like you are blindly following, which you seem to be.
I'm not proving you anything. Go find your own spirituality. I'm just standing up for my beliefs.
...So why do you believe in it?
I don't believe in "the bible." I believe in these simple things: God created the universe, and everything in it. There are two sides to God. A feminine side, and a masculine side. God is overall feminine, because of his unending love for us. He loves us so much that he became human, and taught us how to live for 33 years. Then he was brutalized and was killed as the ultimate sacrifice.
If your god was real, then he would be the same no matter who was observing it. That is how science works. Experiments are reproducible, or they are wrong.
This is where you are wrong. Everyone experiences God differently. We can not comprehend God because our minds won't let us. We can only learn a little about him through our experiences. Everyones' experiences are different, so everyone is going to have a different definition of what God is.
...And why would that be? Why wouldn't this being just go" Hia! This is what I am."? Especially if he cared, for whatever reason. And if he doesn't care, than what is the point in believing in this being anyway?
Because that is not God's way. He gave us free will to either believe in him or not. If he did that, why would we even be on this Earth? if he just came and said "I'm God," what's the point of putting us on a place where God's enemy thrives? God wants us to find out for ourselves what he is.
Then most of you are wrong.
Again, you're the one whose wrong. People's experiences with God are going to be different. thus, people's definitions of God are going to change. Like I said "Many rivers lead to one big ocean."
So lets apply that to another fact of the universe, like gravity. "Everyone has their own idea about gravity, there is no one definition. Gravity is different for everyone"...Nope. Doesn't work. So you are wrong. You can't just say "This is what I like, so it must be true!" and pretend it is. Facts are facts. It is a fact that there is no deity of any kind.
The difference is that everyone experiences Gravity the same. If I jump up, I'm going to come back down in about the same place, same thing if you jumped up. Our experiences with Gravity are the same. Experiences with God, on the other hand, differ.
It means that "finding your own spirituality" is useless and futile. It doesn't do anything more than what making your own idea of gravity would do. It is just a foolish waste of time, and worse than that when it causes wars, scientific stalling, and general hatred.
Maybe. But we all live in one reality, so if one of you is correct, and it is one that says there is only one god that only he himself believes in, then everyone else is wrong. And it is highly unlikely that there is even that one.
Im not saying that everyone is right, And as highly unlikely that there is that one, what is the possiblilty that matter exists at all?
Look at Leet's example of a courtroom.
So wheres your proof?
Gravity pulls to objects toward each other. There is never a case when this is not true
You missed my points, Facts arent facts, The scientific community accepts nothing as a fact, their highest level they can offer is a Theory, So we have a theory that this "Gravity" pulls things together, You can say that gravity exists. that it pulls but can you prove it? i am yet to see proof(i know i seem crazy on this point but prove to me that gravity is real?)
Fun fact not even newton was satisfied with his "Gravity" and Einstien came up with another Theory that says spacefabric pushes us together Instead of gravity.
I'm not proving you anything. Go find your own spirituality. I'm just standing up for my beliefs.
So you are saying that you are wrong? By not proving something, you are not standing up for any belief. You are just mocking your belief as good as Edward Current could.
And what makes you think this? Do you still have your god named Yahweh? And where do you come up with this fresh bull crap? This is the trinity all over again.
This is where you are wrong. Everyone experiences God differently.
So everyone experiences gravity differently as well then? Science doesn't work like that. The universe doesn't work like that.
e can not comprehend God because our minds won't let us.
You believe in an omnipotent god correct? So why did he create a race without the understanding of him, if he wanted it to be that way? So even if you where correct, than having a religion would still be a negative thing.
We can only learn a little about him through our experiences. Everyones' experiences are different, so everyone is going to have a different definition of what God is.
So your god is your own thoughts? That is a strange thing to worship. And once again, the universe does not work that way. No matter who you are, if you do an experiment the exact same way, the exact same outcome will come out.
Because that is not God's way.
Why not?
He gave us free will to either believe in him or not. If he did that, why would we even be on this Earth?
If he didn't than why would we? It seems rather pointless to just make a random race for the sole purpose of playing Where is Waldo with himself being Waldo...
if he just came and said "I'm God," what's the point of putting us on a place where God's enemy thrives?
What enemies is that exactly?
God wants us to find out for ourselves what he is.
What makes you think that?
Again, you're the one whose wrong. People's experiences with God are going to be different. thus, people's definitions of God are going to change. Like I said "Many rivers lead to one big ocean."
But we are not talking about the rivers. We are talking about the ocean. Some people are claiming this ocean is a huge violent ocean, with waves crashing every other second, while some claim this ocean is pure and calm. We are talking about the truth, not any opinion or path.
The difference is that everyone experiences Gravity the same.
Because gravity is real. Your god is not.
If I jump up, I'm going to come back down in about the same place, same thing if you jumped up. Our experiences with Gravity are the same. Experiences with God, on the other hand, differ.
And why would that be? If I do experiments, I come up with the same result. That is how the universe works. There is no "Oh, so you think god is an eleven handed elephant women, while you think god is a bearded middle easterner. You are both correct!" or in this case "You think gravity pulls objects toward each other, and you think gravity pushes objects away. You are both right" in science. This is science, this is what is real, not what you want to happen.
You're putting God on the same level as science. You can't compare the two. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Why are you so vehement about arguing this anyway?
Im not saying that everyone is right, And as highly unlikely that there is that one, what is the possiblilty that matter exists at all?
99.999999999999999999999999999999 to the hundredth, do to all the observations that have been done by millions of independent scientists, none scientists, and really everyone.
So wheres your proof?
You: You have killed a man! Us: What? No I didn't... You: Prove you didn't!
Court doesn't work that way. Science doesn't work that way. It is called the burden of proof. Learn it some time.
You missed my points,
Your points are dull.
Facts arent facts
Yes. They. Are. Can't make it more simple than that.
The scientific community accepts nothing as a fact, their highest level they can offer is a Theory,
Or a law, if you want to get more technical. But these theories are 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999 to the hundredth that we are sure on them, for theories like gravity.
So we have a theory that this "Gravity" pulls things together, You can say that gravity exists. that it pulls but can you prove it?
Yes. I can do experiments. I can run tests. I can analyze data. There is mountains of proof for gravity.
i am yet to see proof(i know i seem crazy on this point but prove to me that gravity is real?)
Easily. Drop a ball, and it falls to earth. Use a certain formula, and you will be able to orbit a planet. We can measure the attraction between each other to a minuscule amount. We have so much proof it would make your head spin.
Fun fact not even newton was satisfied with his "Gravity" and Einstien came up with another Theory that says spacefabric pushes us together Instead of gravity.
Newton was insane, if a genius. And I don't know who Einstien is (Is he related to Einstein? The famous scientist?) or what this "theory" states, as you didn't post a link for it. But, once more, we have so much evidence that you will be spouting formula for a month.
You're putting God on the same level as science. You can't compare the two. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Why are you so vehement about arguing this anyway?
I am acting as an avatar of truth, justice, and reality in this matter. It is my job.
And science is reality. If your god does not fit into the confines of science, then it is not reality. Simple as that. Science is knowledge. Science is fact. Science is everything that is real.
You're box is too small for my God
My "box" is reality. If your god does not fit in reality, then it isn't real.
not to be rude or anything 314d1, but you seem to want to crush the idea of gods. in case it missed your vast mind, gods are a way of defining happenings. if you have missed that then you cannot speak out against the idea of gods.
314d1 You realize your entire argument against us is based on the "idea" that everything you say is right when in fact you have used no solid proof to diffuse our beleifs.
You are simply spouting that people are wrong, with nothing to backyourself up.
Your asking why god does what he does, thats like asking a toddler howcome his fathers beard grows.
"what makes you think that" What makes man think anything in general? Previous experiences, what we have been taught? its all open for debate
Instead of mindlessly asking questions to try to disprove It, Come up with a real question With a real reason behind it.Until then Quit Trolling this board with useless dribble.
