Think about it, what is religion? The belief in something that cannot be proven, that has many, many things that as of yet we have found impossible, and in many people, it is unshakeable. Now I am not saying that all religious people are going to go kill someone or end up in an assylum, but think, in every religion, the basis is something that cannot be know, but is only faith. Faith in something that could turn out to be wrong, faith in something that you have absolutely no way of knowing. Also, think how many of these religions started, some person got a message from a "god" that told them what to do. Don't go crazy on me, I just want people to think about it.
You just trapped yourself. You just said that the holy spirit doesn't protect them, that their lack of fear is from the belief that they are being protected. There is nothing protecting them but blind belief.

He's very serious. Get involved in some psychology about the power of the human brain in the form of ignoring feelings and advancing themselves physically.
Who said this was about proving God again? It's about Faith in God, that's what protects them from the snakes
Yes, it's proven through the science of psychology.
and besides, you make stuff up all the time, you pretend to be a believer, and then you say your not, and then you say you are, but that you said your not just to debate. I soooo don't respect that. Your just like to play games so much that I don't trust anything you say anymore.
"If you have a personal problem with me, deal with it somewhere else." Your words. Follow them. I don't respect how you turn to insulting people's personalities to further your side of a debate. It doesn't work, it just makes you look worse. Stop it.
And besides, NoNameC68 just says stuff to debate, so you really can't trust him. That's not an insult, it's just the way he is.
The same could be said about you. For the sake of debate or not, you should always look into other people's ideas. It doesn't matter what reason, you can't say "I'm not listening because you aren't saying it for the right reason."
A person who doesn't believe in God can also succeed at this by understanding that they can't be afraid.
Yes, I said this because I am debating. However, it is a fact.
Prayer grants this because people who pray may become less nervous. It's called self-fulfilling prophecy. A person who doesn't believe in God can also succeed at this by understanding that they can't be afraid.
If there is a God, then he may protect you... or maybe not. However, it is a proven fact that you can change your body's reaction through mental concentration and exercise. If you have a fear of snakes, you can mentally fix your fear so that they don't scare you anymore.
Have you ever been scared before bedtime to the point where you said a prayer and fell right to sleep? It wasn't God who put you to sleep. When you prayed, you reassured yourself that God would keep the baddies away. This reassurance would be enough to help you sleep comfortably. It's all in your mind.
If there is a God, maybe he does react to prayers. Maybe he did help you go to sleep. But there IS proof that the power granted by prayers are all, in reality, mental. Any way God intervenes with daily life is through scientific happening. This doesn't prove God's existence, it only explains how God may exist. This argument shouldn't be used in a matter-of-fact way or as scientific evidence.
Religion is not fact, it is faith.
To get back on topic. Religion can play a very important role to fixing mental issues. That's a plus.
alot muslims blow them self up for their Prophet: Allah! EVERYONE KNOWS IT! It's fucking insane! Killing themself and innocent people! They have to pray 10 times a day to Allah! How insane is that?
Christianity is insanity!!!
If there is a so called "God" who's allmighty, then why doesn't he stop all cruelity and immigration??!!(I see immigration as a fucked up thing, unless you got respect for yourself and the other country) And if he's allmighty then hen can stop all environmentally hazardous substances to be created or not dangerous for the nature! And going to chirch every Sunday and pray? WTF?!
alot muslims blow them self up for their Prophet: Allah! EVERYONE KNOWS IT! It's ****ing insane! Killing themself and innocent people! They have to pray 10 times a day to Allah! How insane is that?
Fail. Their prophet is Muhammed. Their god is Allah, which, if I remember correctly, means God. Also "A lot of Muslims blow themselves up for their prophet/god: That is not correct. Actually, since it is a sin to commit suicide, I assume not many of them are going to Heaven. Since it is a sin to kill other people, I assume even less are going to Heaven. Since it is also rather bad to go against the "People of the Book" (meaning Jews, Christians and the like)... Well. I also know most Muslims thinks suicide bombers are stupid and bringing down the religion.
They have to pray 10 times a day to Allah! How insane is that?
Uhm, not insane at all?
Also, just shaking my head at the Christianity thing. Let's assume that God (or Allah, or...) really wanted to interfere with this little playground of His, despite the fact that He actually are not going to, as it would prove that He is there, and thus pretty much making it fact more than faith. When humans are as stupid as they are, why would he care to help? We have had our chances, have we not? Cruelty is a human trait, and that would be interfering with the will. Immigration... Yeah, without that we would not have America as it is today, so I see your point.... No. Really, why would you want people to stop trying to live? If you ever ended up to have to escape war or torture, you would not, because it would make you an immigrant? I actually do think most respect the country they get into, but many of the people already living in that country does not respect them back, which causes problems, but that is another discussion. *sigh*
A Danish scientist have concluded (or at least told about the conclusion) that there is a "Godly power" that interfere with the presence from the future, to make sure nothing that will truly screw up everything does not occur. So conclusively, nothing that will truly screw everything up has not occurred yet.
Seems to me in this role it simply acts as a substitute rather then actually fixing the problem.
Often religion can play an important role in drug rehabilitation. Religion can be a moral booster in times of war. Religion can be used to help teach good morals (despite any flaws there are). Sure, you don't need religion to do all of the above but it does help.
Religion can also bring families together, which is probably the most common good that it brings.
There are a lot of flaws in religion. Religion has been used to brainwash people and to start wars along with frauds and scams, but to say that religion is completely evil is pure narcissism.

Agreed. Any religious person should face the flaws in what you believe in, because they are there. Take a thing like the crusades (which a lot of people point out shows that religion is evil) or the suicide bombers (just look at SonnyNerd's argument), all blamed on religion, when basically, it is the humans doing it all. Religion is nothing but the believes, faiths of human beings, and as all humans they have flaws, emotions, personal opinions. Which is why religion helps. It unites (and sadly parts as well) people into groups.
Calling religion insanity is doing what the church did to many scientists back in the ages. Refusing another way of living and thinking and being, just because something seems unimaginable.

Being religious means asking passionately the question of the meaning of our existence and being willing to receive answers, even if the answers hurt. Paul Tillich

I've seen how this works it seems very similar to how someone trying to quit smoking starts chewing lots of gum.
Religion can be a moral booster in times of war.
But isn't this just giving people false hope?
Religion can be used to help teach good morals (despite any flaws there are).
I don't think the flaws in religion teaching morality should be ignored especially since we can teach morality without religion. It simply becomes a redundant flawed system.
Religion can also bring families together, which is probably the most common good that it brings.
Any like mindedness can bring a group together especially in a family setting where you already have a certain level of closeness.

I wasn't saying it was completely evil, I just don't see it as a very effective means of fixing problems.
You went with wikipedia as a better source than other things? For all we know, you changed it right before you posted that link.
OMG you fagot. You are the biggest retard I have ever met. Insanity means you are not right in the head and have a medical issue not fucking, believing in something you ass wipe.
