I know we used to have it, and I know it was spammed, but could we have it again, but with the min. rank of knight. Then there would be little-no spam, and we can have a official CHAT!

It's not hard to get to Knight. All you have to do is rate every single game.

Then you would exclude me.

How about a minimum of 500 forum posts?

AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAA! ... Oh, not a joke.
I say, when even gold kings spam, it won't be safe. Just look at how people treat the comments.

that would be really cool, if you dont want any spamming then if people spammed they would be banned from the chat for a period of time

It mostly likely wouldn't rank/post doesn't mean much. People can get a knight in a single day of spamming. Also there are people who don't spam that haven't reach high ranks but still would be wonderful people to have in the chat room.

Also implementing the chat into armorgames and synchronizing it with accounts would be pretty hard I would guess. Mods would also have to monitor that and prevent people from hacking or doing back things to it.

Arn't there chat rooms for members on other websites? I believe you could make one somewhere.

Agreeing with everything 'cept this. It wouldn't be hard IF we were making a chat room, because all you would have to do is submit your username AND your password. If both of them are true in AG, you're that person. Gods forbid what would happen if they would sign up correctly but were different people... XD

Exactly.
And if people just ten minutes without anyone observing them, there is the chance to do quite a messup without leaving anything but people complaining. We can't act on people complaining, we need evidence. Hard, cold evidence.

Like back in the days where they only could ban people's account if they fluffed up, apparently. No kicking from chat.
Oh, and all the people actually claiming they were a mod, both in the chat and later on the profile, if they were courageous enough to gamble like that.

You sound like a jury in the Supreme Court. COLD evidence... Gives me the shivers...

Or in a week by commenting 50 times a day (A long conversation with a friend can get you twice as much sometimes). A spammer could act good for a week, and then when he gets the chat function he lets it rip.

There are probably only a few dozen (If not less) people who are still active who remember the chat function, as it happened a gazillion years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

Yes, hat is extremely hard to monitor, even when you record all the words on a chat (Who wants to go through half a million lines of junk?). And as mods are not all on at the same time (Logic would suggest they get onto AG during the day, and not in the middle of the night), this would be a gigantic 'End Of the World' for Cenny's theory:

And if people just ten minutes without anyone observing them, there is the chance to do quite a messup without leaving anything but people complaining.

Imagine if they had 9-12 hours of mod free chat.

You burn yourself on the hot evidence otherwise.
Nah, I am a newbie mod. Newbie mods have a habit of looking at the rules and go "This is how it has to happen." Which apparently makes us stricter.

this would be a gigantic 'End Of the World' for Cenny's theory:

Don't I always kinda make posts in suggestions that make it seem that any change is the end of the world?

Anywho, a solution would be to appoint chat moderators, which might even work, but as there is only limited people who would be good as a regular mod, the chat mod would have to work with a higher amount of people (in theory people who only comment games because the forums are too textbased would jump in for the lulz) and a faster moving activity. They would most likely not just monitor it, but actually use it, which would lead to people having some kind of - let's call it respect in lack of a better word. Directly sucking up to them and generally giving the chat mods a sense of power you don't really get as a regular mod, because we work more behind the scenes.
And power corrupts. Having the chance of becoming a chat mod, since they would need a bigger amount, and perhaps there would be less restrictions on the field, would corrupt fast.

CORRUPTION!!

I am detecting a hint of anarchism in you.

Surely though, since the mods we have now would have more power than the chat mods, then this problem already exists anyway. Ever heard the saying, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely?

We are all afraid of Carlie, aren't we. And Dan. Deffo Dan..

Regular mods are pretty much looked after by all the users, and when we ban someone, it is recorded. It would probably be troublesome to keep information on chat-bans in one place, and as mentioned, there is another feel to it when you are in constant direct contact with the users instead of just the random popping in to lock or warn people.

But this would work. Back when there was chat, only the Squire and Serf chats were spammed. If a newbie starts spamming chat, we could just chat-ban him, like some people said. And I bet there won't be a lor of chat-bans.

True, but I don't think it is unworkable. Plenty of other sites use similar systems without big problems. Of course, those sites have many more mods, which I would think would be the biggest barrier to there being official AG chat, but just because it would be difficult and would have a few teething problems doesn't mean the idea should be abandoned entirely..
