I know we used to have it, and I know it was spammed, but could we have it again, but with the min. rank of knight. Then there would be little-no spam, and we can have a official CHAT!

They could have Mods or Admins watching the chat...they might be against that though.

In theory, the chat sounds like a good idea, but I've been to sites with open chats like that, most of it IS spam. :/ If people weren't so selfish and annoying in general, something like this could easily be possible.

Huh..Yea they definitely do things quick in chats....But really, a lot of chats with mods/admins don't do much at all. It takes them 20 seconds to say: stop spamming please. And watching the chat seems like a boring job.

A lot of chats shut you up after quickly sending several lines. but that doesn't always work well.

Theory always sound nice at the beginning, but then the practice kicks in... :/

Guess it all comes down to the fact that there will always be persons who enjoy breaking things and spoiling everything for others... they start out young on the school-playing grounds as the 'bullies' and when they grow up, they have it in their system like a virus... try to cure that!

Somehow I don't think it will happen any time soon, at least not untill they find a way to actively and directly scare off the spammers and spoilers...

I see spamming as different to flaming or trolling. That's just random hatred. Proffessional spamming is a meticulous process, hence organised, and it's against the rules of the site, hence it's a crime.

AG should have a News show, and every day the headlines should be 'Mafia spammers caught red handed'

They could have Mods or Admins watching the chat...they might be against that though.

Would you want to spend your internet time watching a new, incomprehensible line of text written every second? I wouldn't. And the mods probably too.

Only ones that are of organic composition (the mods, though it has not been proven they are all bots).

Theories about human behavior are always wrong. Always... Unless the person (Or people) in mind are simpletons.

No spamming, gammerman22.

Can we at least try this idea?

That's why they can't find people to do this job... No one wants to sit behind a computer all day and stare at a screen that has repetitive sentences popping up every second! I wouldn't want to do that job either!
Hypothetically, it probably takes a bot with an extensive word and sentence vocabulary to catch all spamming comments and then they would still need a person taking care of that bot from time to time, so it all comes down to the fact that still A HUMAN has to do work to catch these guys, or girls (don't want to be discriminating the female gender!), and then we're back to square one...

Yeah, I heard 'the spamming avenger' has no problem with his job, since 'DefenderDude' took a sabattical and hasn't been seen ever since... heard he's enjoying a long vacation on the Bahama's! XD

I don't think this would be entirely necessary to enforce such a system.

Trollers, spammers and flamers perpetrate their activities in the forums/on someone's profile whilst there are no mods online. Does the very fabric of AG collapse in on itself? No. People merely report them to a mod who sorts it out when they get online. I can see how this problem could be more acute with a chat room, but I don't think it's a good enough reason not to have one at all.

That and the fact, I have greater faith in the sociability of the majority of the users on here. I don't think people who would go online with the ambition of trolling would get very far. Most people seem to be getting much better at ignoring them nowadays. That or the best trolls have gotten bored and left. Either way.

just a point i want to make. if we have a chat room then it would be worth no ap right? so half the spammers on the site are just noobs who want AP so if there isn't AP involved they would spam less, right? just wanted to throw that out there

I assume so. It would seem pretty foolish to give AP for merely chatting, something which has nothing to do with flash gaming whatsoever.

If this is really going to be a chat, then how about we do certain features of chatting: Squelching. A nifty little feature in Battle.net where you can make a certain person's text not even show up on your screen. Why even get the mods involved? That's silly! Why make them do all the work, when you can do it yourself by squelching the spammer? If everyone squelches that spammer, he will eventually get bored and leave. Users can report him to a mod later, if they wished.

What could be wrong with this idea, hmm?

Depends if they will be able to do it on a mod. Just like blocking a user on this site has been rejected because people would block mods.
