I know we used to have it, and I know it was spammed, but could we have it again, but with the min. rank of knight. Then there would be little-no spam, and we can have a official CHAT!
I have a kongregate account and what they are saying is true. There is more spam and noobs on there than xboxlive. It gets annoying and tiresome. So I agree no chat is cool.
This is probably off-topic in terms of the flow of the discussion, but I'd like to propose an alternate pre-requisite for the chat rooms.
Any random spammer can rate all the games on the site, post a few worthless comments, and end up receiving a thousand AP along with the Knight ranking. However, the true test for rooting out the non-spammers is a Merit. While ratings are trivia, Merits are substance.
This method not only encourages members to start brainstorming Merit-worthy comments, but it also ensures that any possible chat rooms would be mostly to completely void of spammers.
Perhaps there could be chat rooms of differing caliber, where "higher-classed" rooms require more Merits to enter...
Awws, we couldn't possibly exclude everyone else without feeling guilty about it. That and...I have to say this...people with merits still spam. They know that they don't get merits in reviews enough than when they do in winning contests. Contests require less effort than reviews do, and winning enough could give them access to these higher chat rooms. I'm not saying that this isn't a bad idea though, just that there is no sure-fire way of taking out spam without directly affecting the problem.
Ok, so if you would make those level-rooms for a chatroom, that would mean certain people with lower ranks at the time (me, boohoo) wouldn't be able to talk to others on a normal level other than the mentioned 'Hi - Hi - level' most chatrooms would be based on... *scrathes head* It somehow keeps presenting new problems every time a solution or advice on how-to is given in this matter! Is there ever going to be a chatroom is still the 'question at hand' I believe... and these problems are not something that's unsolvable, but the answer to the question at hand is! *mumbles to himself: Am I still making sence?* Anyhow, what Freakenstein stated is true (said it myself waaayy to often), spammers will always spam, no matter what we/he/she/they do to prevent it... :S
