It is my opinion that they should be able to do anything that straight people can do. The fact that we are restricting them from getting married reminds me to much of the restrictions we placed upon women and blacks which most people would agree were terrible. I would also like to point out that I am not gay, I just believe in the freedom of the people. Feel free to post the opposing side of this as always.
So you think that people shouldn't be allowed to get married just because they get financial breaks?...
Ya know, you could just do something like vote against the breaks or protest. Like a sane person would.
Although, I do partially agree with you, now that I think about it. Marriage shouldn't really take a part in the legal system, there's no reason for it to. And when you think about it, religion shouldn't interfere with marriage.
Ya know what? I agree with you. I thought you meant that people shouldn't get married in general, but now I see what you mean.

Actually there are many reasons why marriage must be recognized by law. Primarily, marriage allows your spouse legal rights to your affairs in the case of your death or incapacitation. You have joint adoption rights, legal status as "next of kin", the ability to file taxes jointly, automatic inheritance if there is no will stating otherwise, joint housing (which is unavailable if you are unmarried, especially for those on Section 8 or in the military), health services for spouses of Native Americans, joint parenting rights... the list goes on and on. The fact is that marriage is a legal necessity.
religion shouldn't interfere with marriage.
I completely agree. I feel that anyone should be able to marry anyone else, regardless of sex or how many other spouses you have.
"should"? I think they can...well at-least in Canada. I remember there was lots of debates in Canada about this subject, like a few years ago when the new prime minister was elected.

Yep goold ol' "King" Stephen Harper spreading the love back in '05. Seriously I think it is one of the few good things Harper has done, but I'm proud to say that we as Canadians have done it. Oh and Argentina just legalized gay marriage also!

Well yea, it opens the mind of society a bit. And that's cool. It finally happened in Argentina, not that it will help them to ever beat Germany in World cup *cough* *cough*
Yeah, I also disagree with adoption. Children should be forced to live with parents who are unable or unwilling to take care of them, rather than find a new home where they will be properly cared for and loved...

So true. It's not like Homosexuals have the ability to look after children, right? They aren't real people who could do something like parenting and loving, correct? /Sarcasm
And MDV, were you going to say something completely inappropriate then? Like a three letter word beginning with F and ending with G?

People please, this is the 21st century!
Avorne, I hope you realize the nonsense I have to hear every week just by living in the US. I love our freedom of speech but I wish people would stop and really think about what they're saying before opening their mouths.
