it has come to my attention that this nation (america) is dividing, very quickly. could there be a way to stop it, or are we so determined to change everyone into unthinking machines, that there will be a second civil war? i want some different views on the causes of this, and possible solutions to the division. people from other countries are encouraged to jump in, it might be helpful to get some insight from people whos culture is several hundreds, even thousands of years older than ours.
Well, the rapid increase in the mexican population is a key factor
Really, care to back that up?
On the OP this really isn't that bad and unless Palin gets elected *prepares torch* I doubt anyone will revolt as it would require military assistance to defeat the government.
bingo, the repubs and the dems, and the libs, and the other guys i can't think of, it seems that the people in charge of this country have forsaken its people, and left us to fester in the filth that we have created.
These different political parties all have different viewpoints on how to perform politics. We are human beings and have the specific constitutional right I'm thinking of; no one can force us to agree and band together. And even if we did, the candidates will still have ways of doing things like a political party and the people would vote as such. An example, we have tried to take away religion from being part of our voting process, yet it is influential in our decisions. If you want to blame political parties, blame John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.
Off course there is diversity in a land were you can have an opinion. The only way to make everyone "band together" would be to have an authoritarian leader who enforces his ideals on the populace.
As for the civil war, its unlikely. The worst that would happen would be succession, witch is not cause for a civil war at all. And who would leave? Texas? The majority of the country would stay mostly united.
i mean unified as a team. not like, we all have to do and say and believe the same things. i mean, lets say for a hypothetical, it came to a division, and a civil war broke out. would an enemy not take that as a chance to kill us while we are weak??
No, they would not. Even half America would be able to take out a few guerrilla fighters... Especially on our own soil. Our enemies are all small and would have no means of a mass invasion, or even a minor one. Who would attack us? The Taliban? North Karia? The only past enemy we had who would ever be a real threat to our soil would be Russia, and our allies (or at least those who would probably ally with basically the north half) would be able to keep them back, probably without even a fight. Just being there would be a fine deterrent. America doesn't have any real threats at the moment.

yeah i do actually. You dont understand the growth of the mexican population until you've lived on the west coast.

Our only serious threat we could ever have, would come from the inside.
I don't see another civil war happening. However, there could always be a coup.
I'm honestly surprised at how peaceful protests have been against Obama. As far as I know, the Tea Party has been a complete failure. I could be wrong, but I don't think the protest has had any impact on the decisions made by Obama or congress. I'm starting to wonder if violence is the only thing that will turn our government's head.
The government is ignoring the people. Many of the people who make up Congress honestly believe that the government has the power to do anything they want. We CAN'T have those types of minds leading our country. That's just my opinion.
I'm fairly sure I'm not absolutely correct, so it would be nice to be pointed to some evidence that either proves or disproves what I said.
yeah dude. now that there was 9/11 we need to be close in case of another attack. that way we will all know eachother, so we can dispense with all the getting to know eachother, so we can reproduce facter and be back on top a lot sooner. Am I close to your point? because I figured that's what your title's about.
I'm starting to wonder if violence is the only thing that will turn our government's head.
Im inclined to agree... which is crazy, because I always believed in peaceful protest. Its just not working.
How many millions worldwide marched to the streets to oppose the recent war with iraq, they ignored it. The goverments of the world WILL do what they want, thats why we need to become aware politically and make young people aware of it. I used to say I hate politics because its lies and games etc... now I want to become involved in debate and spreading ideas of political awareness. I wouldnt make a good politician, because Im far too honest. But I hope to spur on people who dont think at all.
This is why we are in a world of unrest. USA is feeling the pinch and UK is splitting from europe. All of our TV is americanised, dramatised, sensationalised crap!
So I agree. Band together to create some kind of unity. What else we gonna do.
My point about the growing Mexican population had nothing to do with race, samy. Don't even dare calling me racist. There are factors that come with the increase in Hispanics. Hispanics are mostly made up of Catholics. And Samy, how about you think before you say something like that.
