Ok. I've done some ritual and my original topic probably came off as a bit... zealous. I think I'll explain a couple of things now.

I do worship satan. I ritual, and i have pentagrams all over my house. I do not have a pet goat. They creep the **** out of me.

Satan, to me, does not represent every evil ever enacted, but instead, indulgence and pleasure. Let's take a look at christianity. Not allowed to have intercourse before marriage, no homosexual marriage, rest on the sabbath day, don't eat meat on Fridays, and fast for forty days in the spring.

Satan doesn't believe in limitations, he says that everyone should indulge themselves in their wants and desires. Quite the positive character, no? and remember, we are talking about Satan. Beezlebub. Lucifer. That guy.

I'll drink to that! Letting me do whatever strikes my fancy--I like that rule!

Satanism has become quite...demeaned because of Christian propaganda and dogma. Such propaganda was so strong, that I, who used to be a Christian when I was a wee laddie, find it hard to become open minded with this particular belief. I will try though.

Pentagrams shouldn't even be considered satanic since their origin is pagan. Leave it to the Christian's to demonize everything.

To some extent. But why is it that every idol worshiped goes to one extreme or the other? Why isn't there a god who says, "Have a good time, but don't over do it."

Spot on there...

The designated driver god? Maybe Hermes and Dionysus could do a little team up... "Here, have some wine, then Ol' Hermes over here will drive you home..."

Now for a question, do you believe in this deity in a literal since or in a metaphoric since?

According to what limited knowledge I know of Satan, he was the other son of God that wanted all humanity to be forced to worship God, with Satan as his enforcer. God rejected his idea, and the war in heaven ensued.

I only brought up that little lesson in mythology to try and compare it to the Church of Satan. If the CoS subscribes to letting its members do whatever bloody fancies them, wouldnt that be going against the lack of free will that he proposed to his Dad?

Im not a scholar, I have simply always thought of that as a double-standard.

Sorry Mage, but I had to delete your post due to the image you posted. It was well in the "offensive" range.

I copied and pasted the rest of your post on your profile if you wish to re-post what you had said. You will have to re-add the italics and maybe even re-space the paragraphs.

Very well.

The pentagram stand for protection. With the point going upward you are drawing the protection from a higher power. The inverted pentagram means you are drawing the power from your self. (which kind of make it seem rather pointless really)

Satan doesn't believe in limitations, he says that everyone should indulge themselves in their wants and desires. Quite the positive character, no?

The only problem with this picture is there are limits, "too much of a good thing". For example you can have a few classes of of alcohol without too much trouble, but over do it and you can end up with alcohol poisoning which can be fatal.

Though I will say the way Satan is depicted in the Bible he really doesn't seem like that bad of a guy in comparison. It wasn't until the New Testament that he was getting his evil rep.

Other Son of Satan.
WTF. Where the heck did you get that from?!

Agreed.

Now, From Wiki, Joseph Campbell.

One of the most amazing images of love that I know is in Persian â" a mystical Persian representation as Satan as the most loyal lover of God. You will have heard the old legend of how, when God created the angels, he commanded them to pay worship to no one but himself; but then, creating man, he commanded them to bow in reverence to this most noble of his works, and Lucifer refused â" because, we are told, of his pride. However, according to this Muslim reading of his case, it was rather because he loved and adored God so deeply and intensely that he could not bring himself to bow before anything else, and because he refused to bow down to something inferior to him (since he was made of fire, and man from clay). And it was for that that he was flung into Hell, condemned to exist there for eternity, apart from his love.
___

Lucifer, unable to see the image of his God in the man, refused to bow. Punishment? Hell. AKA the Timeout corner.

Now let the piranhas come.

Well, we had a very large (17 page) topic on Satanism. However, it is quite old. I am only going to list it here for reference and close it. Allow this one to stay open because it is current.

Thank you!
Now, I will give a list of Satanic symbols that don't mean what you think.
Inverted Cross: Well, the line of thought leading up to this would be that if a crucifix is holy, then if you turn it upside down, it must be unholy, right? Wrong. The inverted cross is actually a symbol of humility and unworthiness before Christ and God. It started with the martyrdom of Saint Peter. St. Peter, when he realized his fate, requested that his cross be upside down. Why? Because he didn't feel that he was worthy to die in the same way as his Lord and Savior. So yeah, not really satanic at all.
666: Six-six-six is apparently the number of the Devil. But before thatt, 666 was a magic number of the Pagans. They considered 333 to be magical, and 666 to be like, mega-magical. This is just more anti-Pagan crap from the Church.
And...that's all I have. For now.

i personaly can have no opinion on satanism for i do not now or ever did practice it
i personilly think that the cristian church is a little mean when it comes to that expecailly the catholic church im raised catolic by birth but i agree with nearly nothing exsept god and juesus and saints and articals like that i tried buhdiusm for awhile it didn't "do it" for me i guess im a buhhdist-catholic now

Quite the positive character, no?

no i dont see how thats positive if you can do what ever you want, well i feel there should be limits
@chilzmaster i have a few questions: so when you die you want to go to hell do you even believe in the afterlife, arent pentagrams wicken, when you say rituals do you mean like summoning praying or what, were you born satanist or convert by choice? so if you go aginst satan ans your satanist you go to heaven?

intercourse before marriage

unture that is not forced it is by choice
no homosexual marriage

acualy were more leanient on that one now even if youre gay you can go to confestion (only for cathlics) and be forgiven and still continue to do it (i think)
yes one time the preist had a whole lecture on evil and the devil and the whole time i thought thats a religion there talking about thats like really racist they also pick on othere cultures/religion
sorry but i just cant agree with satanism but i do tolerate it

I didn't know that Satanism was so heavily misrepresented by Christian religion. I honestly thought that it was all about sacrificing goats and drnking blood from skulls. Leave it to opposing religions to bathe each other's images in mud. Pretty much everything I (and likely everyone else who hasn't read this topic)have known about Satanism has come from movies and the Bible. I have heard of several cases of Satanism that most people think of, like the sacrificial offerings, but come to think of it I have heard similar cases with fanatical degrees of Christian religions (like in the communities where they live apart from society and make their own shoes, crazy people). I guess most belief's negative conotations come from fallacious conclusions people base off of the most extreme and fanatical facets of said beliefs.
