Welcome to the Art Skills Competition 2014/2015, or "ASC" for short. It is a contest to gather willing artists from the forums to compete in a friendly test of their skills and reward the best of their work each round.
Rounds will take place each month, the last day of the month will be the final cutoff for any entries. The judging will take place the first week of the following month.
___________________________________________________________________
Competition Guidelines :
1. The entry must be 100% original material.
2. Each round lasts for a month; closing date is at the end of that month.
3. Submissions should be relevant to the current month's theme. (See thread's title)
4. Keep posts resolutions within reason and if you must have a larger resolution, link it to the entry.
5. Entries can be created in any medium, please note that it will be appreciated if hand drawn entries are cropped to contain only the intended work.
6. Winners will be announced by the judge of the competition at the end of each round; the results are final and non-debatable.
7. The winner of a round will have the right to choose the next theme; if this takes too long, the judge will choose one instead.
8. All participants of each round will receive a Merit for their hard work; the winner of each round will receive the Armor Games "Artist Quest"!
Round 1: Knight
This months theme will be dedicated to creating a knight representing that of Armor Games, it is a non official character to try and stir the imaginations of artists and viewers. The artist should endeavor to embody Armor Games in a Knightly character.
Ah, i am just very bad with mouse. I just want to control the pen with my hand. Not with a mouse. You can't just make those little details just with a mouse xD
Drawn with a touchpad in Paint, totes has detail. Admittedly took like an hour and a half, so uh, yeah, not saying you shouldn't go for a graphics tablet, they are super handy for easing the process.
I was actually going to enter this round of the ASC but I didn't have time to finish a thing within the deadline. Maybe next round I'll give y'all a run for it like in the good old days (pending theme).
ETA: This is Diditai, character from a project I'm working on.
I think this one was by expression the most blue, not only in color but it gives a feeling of melodramatic blue with the stretch limbs and flowers trying to bloom. One suggestion I would make is crop some of the excess space around the subject to give it a better focus point.
I think you have an interesting style going on, it is almost like you want to go for something made of clouds or mist. I would love to see you try to capture something in motion with this style, leaving a smoke trail. It is well done and I hope to see you refine this technique.
Petition to ban Cenere from ASC! He's OP!
Instead I present...
The Cenere Award
For all his awesome submissions, they are just great I like to thank @Cenere
But seriously I cannot give the prize to you everytime, even though I am compelled to say its probably some of the best refined submissions on this thread. I try to be unbiased and determine what best fits the theme.
No idea what you were trying to express here but the drawing particullary stands out for its exaggeration of its subject.
@Renton8
don't give up, even I am pessimistic about my own art, it is pretty good though It sorta looks like you might have used a few filters to cheat shading in.
Also, @Hectichermit The meaning behind my work is about those who go out every night to have fun. Trying to fill themselves with things like alcohol, nicotine, and drugs to feel better about themselves yet feel unsatisfied about why they aren't going anywhere with their lives. It shows about someone who may do those things yet if you look them at a different kind of perspective, they are sad and only want to find something happy. The bubblegum was the only thing pink to represent those things these people intake to feel temporary happiness, I didn't want to add cigarettes or anything because I thought it would inappropriate. Sorry I couldn't express that better.
Still congrats to everyone especially @StormWalker
I have selected the exciting topic of robots. From small robots that live in your walls for the NSA to cyborgs to very large things that stand on your house and shoot lasers. Go wild.
