Republicans are all partisanly dead against it
Isn't it ridiculous, that even a bill as non-political this one, has such a division between the parties? It's not like health care, a rightly debated topic, but whether or not kids should spend more time in school. Seems like there isn't much controversy that could be found in that.
Lately I've been getting pretty annoyed at how many people don't have a logical reason to like or dislike the Democrats, yet still claim ridiculous things, such as they hate America. Same could goes for Dems on Republicans, but I don't see it happening as heavily anymore. The conservatives are much more ridiculous in their claims now, than the Dems ever were during the Bush presidency. Then again, the entire two party system is flawed. America needs to be introduced to one or two new views, or else this bickering between the Dems and Republicans are just going to get worse and worse.
congress can pass any law that is required at future times, even if it's not mentioned in the Constitution.
I believe he meant it isn't in the President's power. Some of us in this thread need to review powers of each branch though, to avoid future untrue posts.
I hope he doesnt but he shouldn't be worrying about what every person is doing he should worry about everything else like Irag ( just and Example ) that accutally is important.
The education of the future leaders of America is definitely important. More so than policing the world, in my opinion.
Why do they think throwing money at schools raises education?
To a certain extent, money will increase the level of education. With extra money, school systems can afford to hire better teachers and build new buildings (resulting in smaller class sizes), better technology, better financial aid, among many others. In the end however, it is up to the school system to spend the money wisely.
Personally, I believe that America needs to implement a quality, not quantity, system in the education system. Politicians can shove us in school for as long as they'd like, but without better teachers and an effective learning environment, students still won't give a damn. My school system is one of the better in the state (and from what I've heard about other school systems, seemingly one of the better in the country), but there's always room for improvement. Hiring better teachers, building new schools and hiring more quality teachers to reduce class size, and giving the students teachers that will inspire them to learn is what will bring America back up to pace, not forcing us to spend even more of our day in the place. I know that last year when we didn't get out of school until 3:15, I could barely concentrate 8th hour. This year, school starts and ends earlier, which is very helpful. If the time it set at 3:15 again, and I have another class to worry about, chances are I'll fall behind second semester.
I know most people aren't going to read my entire post, so to summarize:
Being forced to spend more time in school has a better chance of decreasing the quality of learning, than it does of increasing it; without improving other aspects of the educational system.
