Welcome to the Art Skills Competition 2014/2015, or "ASC" for short. It is a contest to gather willing artists from the forums to compete in a friendly test of their skills and reward the best of their work each round.
Rounds will take place each month, the last day of the month will be the final cutoff for any entries. The judging will take place the first week of the following month.
___________________________________________________________________
Competition Guidelines :
1. The entry must be 100% original material.
2. Each round lasts for a month; closing date is at the end of that month.
3. Submissions should be relevant to the current month's theme. (See thread's title)
4. Keep posts resolutions within reason and if you must have a larger resolution, link it to the entry.
5. Entries can be created in any medium, please note that it will be appreciated if hand drawn entries are cropped to contain only the intended work.
6. Winners will be announced by the judge of the competition at the end of each round; the results are final and non-debatable.
7. The winner of a round will have the right to choose the next theme; if this takes too long, the judge will choose one instead.
8. All participants of each round will receive a Merit for their hard work; the winner of each round will receive the Armor Games "Artist Quest"!
Round 1: Knight
This months theme will be dedicated to creating a knight representing that of Armor Games, it is a non official character to try and stir the imaginations of artists and viewers. The artist should endeavor to embody Armor Games in a Knightly character.

Dunno about Hermit, but if I was the judge, I would welcome alternatives to literal fire.
Gun fire, metaphorical fire, be it harsh critiques or hazing, perhaps difficult situation of some sort, though the latter might be pushing it if not done right.
On top of that, there are several ways to show literal fire without having to draw it. Someone dragging themselves out of a burning building, someone sitting by an ambulance, with the reflection of a fire in the surroundings, the blue flames of alcohol burning would be interesting too. A ring of fire with a tiger jumping through, forest fires, where only the nearest flames are shown. A forest after a fire, showing that new plantlife has made it through alright.
There are plenty of ideas, at least, don't let a stupid theme stop you from making something.
Which is all easy to say, and hard to do, I guess.
Attempt might be forthcoming due to the sole reason that I in fact do like drawing fire.
I couldn't agree more guys, but I only found the time to work on a piece for the Username Contest and after two days worth finishing that, I had no time left... and I won't make it during the last few days I'm afraid... I feel like I've let you down @Cenere... sorry...
I wasn't very sure about what I could draw, other than a firefighter in a big fire. But then I thought this theme could mean other things, like going through a tough time, but being able to face it and reborn stronger than before, so to speak. So with that in mind, I ended up drawing a phoenix... well, trying to do so...
I've finally handed out the missing Merits for all entries made in previous rounds of the ASC. It took some time to sift through everyone's entries and see if they were handed out or not, but they should all be up to date now!
However, if you think one is still missing, let me know and I'll look into it, ok?
Quick note #1: Some of you may notice the mentioning of '2015' in the hand out message, where in fact that particular round you received a Merit for was held in '2014 instead. Sorry for that, but I only noticed it when I finished handing them out...
Quick note #2: Some of you are mentioned in the callout list of usernames, but you were already up to date with the hand out of the Merits you deserved for entering. I simply posted the entire list, hence...
@MrDayCee
No worries, it was kind of a tricky theme, it seems.
Oddly, I was in the middle of another entry (a dancer), but hey, everyone loves more fire, right?
